Question about Projection Televisions

FP5210 W103 52in Projection TV

Magnavox 52 in. Projection TV(PIP)It made a pop and lost power.It had a smell like an electrical short.I tried to turn it badk on and the green light came on for a second and went off.It will not come back on.

You are likely to have a bad flyback transformer...it is the square like device that has the big red wire coming out maybe 3 wires all big and red....Look on this device for any burned places (inspect with light) or holes Could be high failure part...the part number is 483514067128....this part number is popular in various other chassis....Hope this helps...Dennis

This model does not have a reset switch of any kind.

If it has a blue cast someone likley turned up the blue brightness inside the TV...there are 6 knobs...2 for each color..try turning that down. Its not the PIP or bad tube...

Yea. Your model FP5210 is much older than one with digital SSB board. Still would think that the mute is being activated; probably by the ucontroller/cpu IC.

Sounds like a product defect to me, I would be on the phone with LG to get a certified tech out to the house ASAP!

If you have the following symptoms check the site www.TvRepairKits.com . They have a repair kit for this problem. 


Screen shrinks and expands - may or may not correct itself after the TV warms up.

After a few days, weeks, or months of having the shrinking/expanding problem you may loose all audio/video but the power light will remain lit!

Sounds like a capacitor blew or the Flyback has shorted. Does the power led light up when power is pressed?
