Please remember that the Freecom Datatank carries a two year warranty. If you contact support and give them the model and serial they may be able to help.

you can do that if you wish but a data recovery specialist has the tools to do this cleanly look for one nearby and let them know the situation you will NOT be happy doing this yourself.

Make sure that you haven't made any changes in usb connectivity, mean your phone will only be connected with your pc companion when you choose phone mode. had a similar problem with my X10 (the big one) - turned out to be something to do with the Nokia PC Suite I had installed on the PC - well, at least when I deep sixed the Nokia software the phone started working. So check if you've got something trapping USB events - e.g. some folks have complained that the iPod software does this.

Dumb question, but have you tried the usual work around (he says, blithely assuming that you've got a Windows PC) of trying a different USB port? I've had problems with a scanner getting recognized that moving to a different port sorted out fine.

Oh, and I've also had some issues with 3rd party microUSB leads - they seem to only be usable for charging.

try both ports wait a while with each(the device driver must download) and if that doesn't work restart your computer

What dose the icons mean on front panel what is the little square hole for next to the mike connection

hello, it is most likely a firewire connection.
FireWire, originally created by Apple and later standardized as IEEE-1394, actually preceded USB and had similar goals. The difference is that IEEE-1394 was originally intended for devices working with lots more data -- things like camcorders, DVD players and digital audio equipment. IEEE-1394 and USB share a number of characteristics and differ in some important ways. Here's a summary:
  • Like USB, IEEE-1394 is a serial bus that uses twisted-pair wiring to move data around.
  • However, while USB is limited to 12 megabits per second, IEEE-1394 currently handles up to 400 megabits per second.
  • USB can handle 127 devices per bus, while IEEE-1394 handles 63.
  • Both USB and IEEE-1394 support the concept of a isochronous device -- a device that needs a certain amount of bandwidth for streaming data. This mode is perfect for streaming audio and video data.
  • Both USB and IEEE-1394 allow you to plug and unplug devices at any time.
hope this helps,

regards

IEEE connection

If your using a Vista OS, the IEEE has a separate link in device manager. If your using an XP the IEEE connection should be under network adapters. This firewire connection is similar to USB but has a faster transfer rate. Since you did full recovery you may need to re install the software that comes with the device your trying to connect to the laptop which uses the Firewire connection.

Hope this helps.

Freecom 250 Gb Hard Drive

Hi des,
you need to install windows XP, on a different hard-drive.
even if it,s only 10 gig plus.
You can then access the drive.
Your problem is here, is that you,ve upgraded from XP to Vista, theres a possibility, that you may have lost or even formatted your freecom hard-drive.
No-Support-Device detected, is saying that your USB devices are not functioning correctly.
Check in the bios that the USB devices are enabled, to operate your hard-drive. ( this is assuming it,s a USB drive )

Hope this helps you out.
