Question about Hotpoint 24 in. FDW60 Free-standing Dishwasher

Open Question

My Hotpoint FDL50 dishwasher is tripping the fuse box circuit during the 1st stage wash cycle. I cancelled the wash cycle and switched off the dishwasher on the on/off button & the dishwasher still tripped the circuit.

we are having this problem, heating element just got replaced along with 3 motors, motherboard, control board, door panel and still having problems. ~Not worked properly since six months after we bought it - now still have no joy as the engineer that fit the new door panel left soap dispenser slightly unscrewed and it slowly kept leaking. tripped out system for 20th time. have been told not to switch it on as the leak as now caused a short circuit (according to hotpoints computer test they do ) to the control panel againj. to add we also had a nightmare with the door being replaced because of a leak and it took six months to get a part.
    insurance not always great solution.

any suggestions on what route to take with hotpoint d/washer

I actually found this was a secondary problem with my Hotpoint dishwasher. The actual problem was a seriously dangerous DIY join to the shower cable a previous owner to my property did. The join was made with a 10amp block that had actually melted with the cables. It took me months to find and I am so lucky a serious fire and injury or death did not occur. This is not an exaggeration to scare anyone but do look elsewhere in your home for an answer.

SOURCE: Dishwasher tripping the circuit breaker

Andy, leave the breaker off and remove the toe panel (bottom panel) from the dishwasher. Remove the cover of the junction box where the cord connection or wiring is made. Look at the wire caps and see if they are not burnt. Sometimes these connections become loose and arch, tripping the breaker. If so, cut the wires, strip a new end and reconnect. SOURCE: Hotpoint dishwasher BF1620 blew the main fuse

This is happening because you have a very bad fault, a Phase to Earth short, problem. Leave machine UNPLUGGED, Breaker/Fuses OUT. do NOT use it, nor Touch it, It is possible to get severe electric shock. PLEASE get a registered serviceman to inspect this unit.

My dishwasher does not come on when i try to switch it on, yes the power supply is on. It seems to have stopped during a wash cycle.

1. No power to the dishwasher
Make sure there's power getting to the dishwasher. Check for a tripped circuit breaker or a blown fuse. Check the wall socket for power. Sometimes the power cord disconnects at the dishwasher (inside the junction box, behind the bottom kick panel), if this is the case, the wiring must be repaired or replaced.

2. Door switch
Replace if defective.

3. Timer
Replace if defective (note: uncommon problem).

4. Selector switch
Replace if defective (note: uncommon problem).

You will have to find the component in the machine that has
gone live to neutral, live to eath or neutral to earth if it is protected by a RCCBO. Check on the back of the printed circuit board for "BLOWS" black marks blown components.

My smeg dwf 64 sse blew the main fuse yesterday. The machine was up to its rise stage on program 8 then the breaker went. Every time I switch the main back on it blew. I have managed to stop it...

Your element was initially short circuit, which caused circuit breaker trip. It is now open circuit and timer will not advance because water has not reched required temperature, recommend thermostat replacement also.

Hi - had a similar problem with about 3 different makes of washing machine - the RCD switch on the main household fuse box was continually tripping . Nobody could give me a right answer . Eventually ended up with a Hotpoint . Felt sorry for the delivery guys from the electrical retailers having to keep dragging machines in and out .
