Question about Heating & Cooling

1 Answer

I have a Payne, Gas heat/Electric cooling unit, model# PY1PJB____, and apparently I need to replace the combustion blower wheel. When I turned it on 1st time this season, it made a very loud noise, and upon inspection, the blower wheel is completely rusted and 1/4 of the wheel is missing. Probably the loud noise. I have the maintenance manual for this unit. I just need to know where I can buy the part(s) I need to repair this. Looks like a simple repair, but do I need to replace the wheel only? Or will I need to replace the blower housing? I appreciate any help, John rayj72@Bellsouth.net

Hi, you will need to replace the inducer/combustion motor as one assembly. If you know any contractors that have a c-20 or c-38 license, you could get it at any wholesales a/c & heating parts house. If not, you will need to buy one on the Internet, just enter the name, model, serial number of this unit, and you can order one. Or, take the assembly out and go to a appliance parts house, they may have it in stock. Very easy to replace. With the wheel broken that way, I am sure you have bearing problems that caused this problem, so I would get the complete assembly. You will be better off in the long run.

Intertherm furnace burner comes on, but blower does not. If I turn thermostat off then back on until it clicks the fan will then come on. It does not do this all of the time, just now and then.

Furnace burner and heat element are not the same. I think the fan time delay, a sensor that turns the fan on when this sensor senses heat, is shot and needs replacing, for a furnace type heat ( gas heat)

I have a E2EB-017HA air handler and I want to change it to a variable speed motor. Is this possible

Some companies do sell a variable speed kit. It includes the motor and controls. Get your model and serial number of your unit and contact your local Payne dealer. The can locate the proper kit if available for you.

Replaced Thermostat and now Blower Motor will not run

Sounds like a set up issue on the tstat. You say this is a packaged unit, inside the machine you should find where the tstat wires hook up. Typically red is power yellow is compressor orange is reversing valve white is emergency heat green is blower. Put red and green together, test blower. Then red green and yellow, make sure blower works again. If blower runs both ways it's either the tstat wire or tstat itself. Make sure you are landing wires on dedicated heat pump terminals, make sure in settings you are set up for heat pump with back up electric heat and TSTAT CONTROLS THE FAN. Good Luck. Also if there is a switch on the tstat for gas or electric on the back you want electric.

I have a blizard split model 10.5 years old in a caravan. model sa101 the air feels cooler but seems to have no noticable difference in actual temperture and compressor seems to run continuously ...

Please understand first, air conditioning system not only cooling the area but also removing the heat. If heat in the room stays constantly, even 24 hrs running a/c couldn't cool the room.
Now, why the a/c could not cool the room or remove the heat from the room.
Check air filter, evaporator coil and blower wheel for clean. If not service the unit immediately. And also check indoor fan motor rpm. If rpm is low, replace fan capacitor. Check for gas pressure to confirm no leak or running with short of gas. It's advisable to service both indoor and out door once in 6 months at least. Otherwise, your electric bill will kill you lot. Thanks.

Is a model py1pnb036090abaa Payne gas pack large enoug

3 ton cooling capacity 90,000 btu heat capacity. In Vermont it would be enough if the home was a 4 or 5 star home. Remember it is only 80% efficient so you will only net 72,000 btu output.

Furnace blower does not turn on

Pat, look for any way to add a few drops of 3-in-1 electric motor oil to the shaft ends. You may find a few small plastic removable plugs where you can drop a few drops into. Get the numbers off the oval shaped capacitor and replace it as soon as possible. Inspect all wires and sand all contacts one at a time to make sure wires go back on original spades. If it continues, you may need to replace the fan relay. Good luck to you!

if the timer is on auto it won't advance if there is no heat, you'll need a meter to read out parts in dryer,is it gas or electric?try first by checking the thermal fuse on the blower wheel housing,if that's good check the heater if it's electric,if it's gas check the ignitor, sensor gas coilssend model number and if it's gas or electric next time

Have a Payne A3PZ airconditioner and a Roberts Aire thermostate need help with wireing it up. The was I understand is that you need a Payne therostate to use with Payne AC unit. But surely there is a...

No, Payne is a cheap Carrier unit. Keep track of your wires and what terminals they are attached to. Usually, units are either a 4 wire or 5 wire setup. In either of these the R terminal is your 24v power, G term is your fan, W is your heat, and Y is your cool. Some times there is a 5 wire which is your common. You use a common if your thermostat isn't powered by a battery. On the R terminal, they are usually marked RC/RH and have a jumper between them. The only time you should remove the jumper is in a 5 wire set up. RC refers to the common and RH refers to Hot or power. Make sure that when you are installing the new tstat there is usually a very small switch that you change for either an electric unit or a gas unit. Change according to what you have. As long as you keep track of your colors and terminals on your old tstat, you won't have to open up your unit to see where the wires are terminating. Good luck to you!
