Question about Dryers

1 Answer

I have a Whirlpool Electric Clothes Dryer, Model WED5700SWO, three years in service, that has started making a loud thumping noise. All else seems to be working fine. From all I read the source could be the device that turns/supports the drum. I would like your comments as to what the problem could be and best way to access and inspect the trouble area. Also where I might purchase replacement parts. My ZIP is 77304, near Willis Texas. Thanks, Jim

My whirlpool duet washer hammers very loud when it spins. The outside of the machine doesn't seem to vibrate much but it is very loud.

That is a common occurrence with dryers such as this one. Even though it sounds bad, it is harmless. If it really bothers, you can re-balance the load and it should reduce the vibration.

New dryer makes a loud thumping full or

I hope he did nt charge you. Because of the seam in a dryer drum, they do make a slight thumping noise but it should not be real loud. I hope the tech took the dryer apart and checked the rollers. One of them may have a flat spot.
I would ask for a factory represent ive to come out and see if they think they would want a dryer in there home that make that much noise.
Please rate solution

Loud thumping noise in Frigidaire model # FDE336RES2

You have to remove the top lid. Then remove the front panel. Then remove the belt and drum.
Your problem is a bad rear drum support assembly.
Remember to unplug the dryer.

Dryer is making loud thumping noise.

Take off the back panel of the dryer and look at the motor and belt turning the drum. There may be something caught on the drum and is pinned in place causing the noise. The motor could be loose on the platform and needs to be tightened. It is probably something physical and seen causing the noise.
