WF865 noise when spinning

When in spin, this washing machine seems like its going to explode, the noise sounds like the drum is banging inside.
Ive been in touch with hotpoint and they say an engineer should visit, but itd like to have a go myself if its possible?

Thanks in advance

Hi Rob, i had the same problem.. The drum has 2 concrete blocks bolted to it to balance it as the whole mechanism is suspended by springs.. Having taken the top off, i noticed the 3 bolts holding the concrete block on top, were loose... HOWEVER, thought that solved it, and seem to work ok for abuit 2 washes, then the noise came back.. turns out, there is also a concrete block at the front at the bottom ! this was also loose, but got so bad it ripped itself of the plastic support pillars and ended up detatching itself and ended up floating inside the bottom of the machine, i noticed as the floor near the machine was covered in concrete dust... Ive taken this bottom block away, but dont use the machine as the drum is now very light and as its raised higher up, the drum actually rubs on the inside of the plastic door !!! - in fact as the spin occured, i could see friction burns glowing on the plastic... So, looks like i need a new outer drum...god knows from where !

Washers have to be balanced. Some have balance adjusters either inside the dryer as explianed above or on the bottom to level the washer. try to balance it by turning the bolts slightly or the bottom portion of the washer to level it. Or else they want to shake apart. Also by distributing the clothes evenly so it won';t be all to one side can help. do not tighten the screws all the way. Just tighten them to the point of getting the right balance.

Hello that sounds like a broken spider that's blotted to the drum what hold the drum to the bearings if one is broken that will do that the banging is when it pop out on a spin it sounds like a brick hitting the back I would be very carefull as it can try and flip the machine if it catch the drum it's not bearings as you said it stopes and it was ok so it's the spider and most drums are sealed units so you can't do any thing ok hope this has helped you

Final high speed spin very noisey

Something is causing the drum to be way out of balance. Does it bang and make noise when it's spinning empty? Probably not. Is something stuck on the side (inside of course) of the drum, causing it to shake when spinning? If not, a spring or shock absorber (connecting drum to sides, bottom or top of machine) has broken or come loose.

Loud banging noise when machine goes into spin mode. sounds like it is banging on the side. Please help !

Usually this is an out-of-balance condition caused by too much weight on one side of the tub, move the clothes around and try again.

Very loud banging noise when spinning

sounds like a balance problem may be when the drum was replaced they didn't fit the new drum in the correct spot the other thing that would cause load banging and excessive vibrations in the machine is if the shockers are worn out,
believe it our not even washing machines have shockers to dampen the movement of the drum spinning

Best way to check if the main drum bearings have gone is to;
  1. Remove back panel of washer
  2. Remove drive belt.
  3. Spin drum by hand from the inside of the drum, if it feels rough, or is noisy and rumbling, then the main bearings have gone.
If there is no apparent noise, then you will have to investigate further.
If I can help further, pleas let me know.
Plz rate my solution.
Thanks.

Machine banging when in fast spin

or the three legged spider that attaches to the drum. its made of cheap metal and one or more legs can crack or break letting the drum loose - seems like bearing but isn't! cost about £40
