Question about Toastmaster 1183N Bread Maker

1 Answer

I have a toastmaster Bread Box bread machine...I am making French bread...the banging noise was so loud I stopped it fearing the machine was broken...is it ? If not should I continue the kneading/baking process...if it is broke, can I take out ingredients and knead manually and cook in a regular oven ?

Unless the sound is mechanical like metal on metal etc. what you may be hearing is the sound of the dough ball being knocked around and kneaded. Sometimes that gets pretty loud. While it is kneading go ahead and open the top and see if you think the dough ball is making the noise. If it seems to be coming from somwhere else then you may have a more serious problem. Is this a new noise or it this the first time you have used the machine?

Ok , then I would take the bread out and just bake it in your oven. After your machine cools off (wait about and hour)and after you clean the pan out etc. reinsert it and turn it on ....it may be the pan is not staying in position on the drive and the y are hearing the noise from that. If that is happening you should be able to see the skips and misses by observing the paddle. If that's not it then you have to decide if you want to try opening it up and looking around or just replace it. If the pan insertion is the problem let me know

Trying to make French bread in my toastmaster bread and butter maker. Bread rose, doesn't bake. Machine is flashing 000

If you pushed the button for "French" bread then you do have a problem. If you pushed the "Dough" buttton then the flashing0:00 just means your dough is ready.

My Toastmaster TBR2 bread machine does not knead when started. It makes a tick-tock noise and the timer counts down but no mixing. The bread pan is positioned correctly. Why?

Make sure you are programming your machine correctly.

The Instruction Manual indicates three possible problems, none of which would seem to be your problem. Not plugged in, error message or kneading blade missing.

Suggest you review the Instruction Manual for programming your bread maker. Unplug your machine to reset and then plug in and program as directed.

Horribly loud grinding noises in bread machine

I made many loaves of bread over the past 2 years and then I heard a grinding noise with the last loaf I made, earlier today. When I cleaned it, I noticed that the dowel that holds the paddle was lose. When I pressed it down, during cleaning, it popped right out. There was what looked like a shredded white plastic washer. It would be nice if I could order this washer but I suspect this might be the end of that bread machine, since nobody here seems to be offering a solution. I don't even see where I could order the whole breadpan. Sunbeam only offers the whole bread machine. And Amazon offers the paddle.

Makes a bad loose sound when mixing dough

My Breadmakers Hearth was making the same sound, so after taking it apart I found that it was only the Bread Pans "under paddle" that the machine reaches up and connects to to drive the Paddle. I wears loose and wobbles and starts to slip making that banging sound. You can either replace the Bread Pan or like I did INVERT the under paddle (requires removing the C-clamp washer) to extend the life of the Pan and use of the Hearth. Hope this helps you.
