if still not, you can reset the router to its factory settings. You can do that by pressing and holding the small reset button at the back of the router. You will need to use a pin to do that. Usually, the reset button has a red circle drawing on it. Just press and hold it for 10 seconds while the power is on. You will notice that the lights will flicker including the power light. It will turn red. Once done, just wait for the router to boot then access the GUI and use the login that I have provided. You should be good to go.

We have a d-link 5DGS-2205 in our office (small nonprofit). It has started making a noise almost like an alarm that lasts for one minute and this happens about once a day. Everything is still working -...

The manual can be downloaded from the following link:

Connecting the Switch DGS-2205 to End Node -

The manual indicates that a diagnostic program will run when the device is booted up (powered on). The diagnostic will check all five cable connections for opens or shorts. Indicator lights will identify a port that has a problem cable. If any of the five ports or cables have a problem or are disconnected the LED's on the front will indicate this and probably sound an alarm. the other ports will function normally. the back of the book has a technical support number. Hope this helps. Check your cables and connections. TAS4RD

I interconnect a D-Link DES-10160 with D-Link Gigabit Switch DGS-1024D network and my network becomes slow

connect only DGS -1024D to your will be faster...
because DGS supports 10/100/1000 speed.... but DES supports only 10/100 speed...
connect DGS directly to your network and work with that... if you wish to extend the number of ports then connect the DES to one of the ports of DGS

and dont connect DGS to one of the ports of DES

Is it worth the extra price for a Netgear switch

For general home networking, you will not see a difference in performance if all you are doing is sharing internet connections / printers.

If you are wanting to share very large files between PCs, then you might consider purchasing a more expensive one.

D-Link makes surprisingly good equipment for the price.

I can't access default IP add of DLink DGS-3100 48P

Straighten one end of a paper-clip, and insert it into the back of the router, to "reset" the router to its "factory" settings.

Then, try again.

Port speed issues with my DGS-2205

Gigabit swich does not enough for a Gigabit network, you also need to get your computers to support it, that means Gigabit network cards, buy if you don't have and you really need to, they are quite cheap these days.
If the above is not the case than it is barely possible, but worths a check, if you are using simple CAT5 cable instead of CAT5E or CAT6 (cable type is written on the cable, see for yourself)cable for the network?
If this is true consider doing a rewireing if really nessesary for speed, but cat5 is ok for gigabit around 10 meters distance for very good speeds.
However to do a little speedtest on your own first is not a bad idea at all, try to copy some big files between 2 computers and check the speed, 100Mbit networks used to do speeds about 8-10 Mbytes/sec that should do it for most networks, gigabit networks can do more, my record in my home network was 50-60Mbytes/sec, but mostly it's around 30Mbytes/sec.
Remember, better cable can do better speed and sometimes length affects network speed if the cable is very long (above 50 meters). And prepare, that you are not really going to reach the theoretical maximum speed of 125Mbytes/sec with common PC hardware. Maybe with some RAID based system or SSD can help you out, but most people don't really need that kind of speed.
