I am setting up a Xseries 345 server using ServerGuide 7.14 everything runs fine untill it start to copy files it than gives me a blank screen and nothing happens after that

Hi,
This is probably a Server Guide issue. You may check with one step lower verion and one step higher version of server guide. It may solve issue.
If that doesn't work, you may have to manually install OS without server guide. You can use a either use a floppy drive or pen drive to load controller driver. Once installed, rest of the drivers can be downloaded from IBM site or install from server guide cd

Thanks

Problems with IBM Xseries 346 Server

Check Light Path Diagnostic which is located on the front side of server . It gives a clue of what's the issue . If you can't see any amber on Light Path Diagnostic , then its an indication of max logs logged on BIOS event logs. You may need to restart server > Get into Bios and clear all event logs . This would remove the information sympol from server .

Just picked up an old eserver xseries 225 box. How does one start it up (open the case) to examine the system configuration. Is a physical key required to start the server

The key is there only to lock the case. If its in the locked position and you have no key and you absolutely must open the case then go to your local locksmith and they can make one for 15-20$.... How to open the case depends on the model number...

I have IBM eServer xSeries 225 8649 and I want to load vmWare 4.1. I tried booting through USB. But it did not boot, what should I do to boot vmware from USB on this server.

Ok, you need to go into the BIOS and change the boot order of your server, as the power comes on press and hold F2 and then go into the boot menu and change the order of the boot to allow the USB to boot first.

what does the icon near light look like? sometimes it is just chassis intrusion alert and can be disregarded. If it relates to disk - then worry.

Ibm server xseries 326

It is not detecting the HDD because the windows install does not have the necessary drivers. On the windwos install you must press F6 or F2 I don't remember which one but it prompts you for them to load external drivers fro SCSI or other type of drives, you must download the right drivers for the type of HDD the server has probably fromt eh IBM support website, put them in a floppy and load them from the floppy into the windows install so it recognizes the drives..

IBM xseries 205, Model 8480-43X Memory upgrade an POST BEEP

Those beeps mean that your RAM is not functioning. Are you sure you got the right upgrade type. Sometimes it'll fit into socket but won't work because of speed. Or just try reseating the modules.
