Hi,

FIRST, make sure that you have uninstalled the SetPoint version you have just installed. Instructions for uninstalling SetPoint can be found HERE.

You can then download the correct software for your Trackball from here:
http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/429/189&cl=us,en

Just make sure that you have downloaded the correct version..32bit or 64bit. (Right click 'My Computer' icon, and select 'Properties' and look under the 'general' tab to verify which version of Vista you are running.

This tutorial from Logitech will explain how to assign the buttons in SetPoint:

Assigning mouse buttons in SetPoint or MouseWare

Should you have any further queries, please reply and I will try to assist you further as best I can.
BTW, you dont really need the Logitech Desktop Messenger. It is just a tool that informs you of any new downloads available for your trackball.

Hi,

Pls verify whether you are using 32 or 64 bit OS as there are two (2) versions likewise of the SetPoint 4.60.

Additionally, Logitech offers for download a Desktop Manager which may be of help in the upgrades plus advance features of your Cordless TrackMan® Optical.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Try downloading and installing the software again, something might have gone wrong with the setup.

Cordless trackman will no longer work after update.

Do a system restore back to before you did the update.
See if that works--it should, as you seem to have pointed to the time that it stopped working.

You didn't say what technique that you used to fix it before, but this should work.

You can also go into the control panel and see if you have, in fact, designated this device to be your mouse. I have run into several systems that, when I went into the control panel and looked at the mouse that it thought was installed, it seemed to have changed. You'll need to set it back to what you want.

I need the schematics for the cordless trackman wheel mouse. I took it apart to clean it and the springs feel out before I could see where they went. The mouse is working without them, but I would really...

try and contact logitech, but they aregoing to charge you and it may cost more than a new mouse, because they dont really want anyone to have that documation about there new product.
go on line and type the following information:

logitech optical cordless trackman wheel mouse layout and or schematics

One more problem with "Vista'

Two options:

1. Download the latest Vista driver for your trackball or mouse from the Logitech website and do a clean install.

2. Go to Control Panel and uninstall that particular update.

Should work :)

Cheers!
