No you are not screwed.
You can find a lot tutorial on line how to tear apart your machine.
Actually i need to know what cable you removed or how look like .Usually the only 2 cable i do know if you replace your laser are...1 the connection between the motherboard and the laser(that cable is brass color) and the other one is the one for the ON/OFF button

Took my Pioneer CT=1040W apart. Main belts for both dual tape decks were melted onto the pulleys. There is also another belt on the B tape deck. Appears to be intact, but can't see where it goes.

The repair of a dual cassette deck is usually not worth it if you are paying a Technician but since you are doing it yourself, there are screws that must come out of the deck to take the transport out. Some of them require you to take the plastic door off. They are not a treat to work on and often even when you are done they have poor performance anyway. Where the belt goes is indicated on the pictorial diagrams of the service manual. Otherwise it is common sense and a little bit of physics. I have probably done 400 by now. Maybe some TV shops will work on it but they are really not real Technicians for tape decks and most times hacks.

Electrical outlet help

Not sure either without more information. Good video, but where exactly were each wires on old device?
Did red go into back of old device on black side or white side?
Black side of wiring device should have brass screws and white side has silver screws.
Use a tester. Tape tester leads to wood sticks. Turn power ON and test each black wire individually to each other wire. When tester lights up, that black wire is Hot wire. And the white wire it lights up on is Neutral. Black will connect to Brass screw on new outlet, and white goes on opposite side on silver screw.
Then add other wires one at a time in process of elimination.

How do I remove the shredder head case of an Aurora AS890C? I have removed the 6 screws (it's unplugged), but it still won't come apart. It quit working, so I don't know if it's jammed or...

There are 7 screws. You missed the one hidden under the small silver label.
Once you take it apart, don't waste your time calling Aurora as you voided your warranty and ability to get help from them. That happened to me.

You are replacing single pole light switch?
Single pole switch has 3 wires: black and red and bare copper

New device has 4 different colored screws: green, dark, brass, silver
Bare copper goes to green screw.
Black wire goes to dark screw
Red wire to brass screw
Nothing on silver screw for a moment. Test circuit and make sure light turns on-off.
If lights works, then good so far.

Now let look at silver screw. Neutral wire has to connect to silver screw.
In back of your electrical box are white wires twisted together and covered with wire nut.
These are neutral wires.
You must connect another short piece of insulated wire to these neutral wires and run that wire to silver screw.
The neutral wire will complete circuit to receptacle.
If you do not have neutral wire, then receptacle will not work in that box without additional wiring.

Hook up neutral wire to silver screw.
Now turn on power and click switch again.
If circuit breaker trips, then reverse your red and black wires.
Otherwise this should be correct wiring.

How do you take apart an HP w1907 monitor? I have one that the picture only stays on for a split second at power up and then goes blank. I suspect a filter capacitor but can't take it apart to check.

haha, been there. This ones a little tricky. Hope you have strong fingers. start by removing the base. There are 3 screws. First pull the base plate off. Then remove 2 screws. Next remove the little rubber insert in the center of the base bracket. You will need a long phillips to get to the 3rd screw. Slide out the base bracket. Flip the panel over and stare at the lcd with the buttons side on the top. Grab a small flat head screw driver. Look at an angle in each of the corners between the inner black lcd trim and the silver outside trim. There is a ****. Shove the flathead in there and pry outward toward the silver trim while lifting on the black inner trim vertically. The trick is to flex the black trim toward the silver and then pull up. There are 6 plastic snaps on the top and bottom, and 4 snaps on the left and right. If you've taken laptop screens apart, you'll feel the similarity.

Once you pry the black trim off the front. Disconnect the LCD Menu button assembly and power button. Then flip over the LCD and lift off the back shell. Looking at the back, remove the 2 connectors for the speakers. Use a small flathead to pry the 4 Inverter power connectors. These 4 connectors have a clip on them and are usually hard to pull out using the wire. Once thoses 6 connectors are removed, remove the 2 phillips screws holding the AC power plug to the case. Also remove the 4 3/16 posts for the VGA and DVI ports. Next remove 4 screws, 2 screws from each side of the LCD assembly. Hold the panel face down with the aluminum tape in the bottom left. Lift the shield and guide the 6 wires through the cage. While opening, look inside and disconnect the flat ribbon cable as soon as you can. Put the LCD to the side. Remove 2 screws from the Video processing board, and 5 screws from the power supply. Note: 1 of the 5 screws is longer. Rotate/slide the power PCB away from the cage to clear the speaker and AC plug, Then rotate towards the Video board. Disaconnect 1 plug. The OTHER plug is SOLDERED and must be disconnected from the video processing board.

There you have it. It stumped me for about a half hour. No pry marks. Barely noticed the 2 slits in between the trims. Well, good luck. Happy Soldering.

PS: I opened mine because I assumed it had bad capacitors. It only powers on for a short short period of time.

How to wire combo switch

you should have 4 wires total (not including grounds, which get twisted together and connected to green screw) you have to know which is the power lead, and which goes to the light! 2 blacks, and 2 whites ...the 2 whites go together and connects to the silver screw, and the 1 black power lead goes to the gold screw, the other black wire(to the light) goes on the opposite side of switch above the silver screws on another gold screw
