No you are not screwed.
You can find a lot tutorial on line how to tear apart your machine.
Actually i need to know what cable you removed or how look like .Usually the only 2 cable i do know if you replace your laser are...1 the connection between the motherboard and the laser(that cable is brass color) and the other one is the one for the ON/OFF button

My x-box tryes to load my games, then goes to open tray sometimes it says redeem code, on a few occasions it has loaded my game in after all the problems before. Please help!

try a lens cleaning disc.it work for me for a while.if it dont work ,go on ebay and order a t8 screwdriver.when u have it look on you tube to see how to take off the casing on your xbox..remove all the screws.once done remove the otherside of the outer covering.then remove the metal shell of the top, which will expose the inside of your console. disconnect the 2 leads that go into your drive.ps try not to scrape the mother board.remove drive carefully, take out the 4 crews and carefully pull the casing apart.next get a hair dryer.(cool setting) and blast all the dust from everywhere.get a cotton bud and use the weight of it to gently wipe any remaining dust from your lens.then blow on it..put casing on drive again and reconnect leads.and place back in original place.plug console in ,turn on and insert game.test it,and it should boot the game up straight away.
if its ok .put the rest of console back toghether properly and your good to go. it took me 20 mins to do then it worked first time every time.trust me.it works.

Hello, I have a problem with my Xbox 360 console. I'm attempting to open my Xbox 360 for the fifth time, and this time, one of the silver screws will not come out. When I use my power drill on it, it

I actually had a problem very similar to this, although it was with one of the black screws. If the screw i indeed stripped, CAREFULLY take a dremel tool and cut a small slot into the top of the screw so that you can use a flathead screwdriver to get it out. However, do this as a last resort.

3 flashing red lights and my power brick is orange

Check around the holes underneath the motherboard where you removed the x clamps to make sure you havn't scratched through any of the wire traces.
Make sure that the gap between the motherboard and heatsinks are correct, have you got one nylon+one steel washer still in place.
make sure that the M5 screws are tightend correctly and diagnally.
I think you mis-understood the baking part, the idea is that you block the fan from cooling the gpu (not the cpu) for about 20 mins, then let it cool down before giving it a try.
If non of this still works get an error code by pressing the sync button hold it in then press the eject button the lights will flash in sequence, if all 4 flash that is 0, 1 flashes = 1, 2=2 , 3=3, do this 4 times, you should end up with an error code like 0020 then post back.
let us know if this helps.

Tape strip came deattached

You can't. That strip is more or less a wire. You'll need to replace the whole laser assembly.

My Camera stopped working on my DSI, how can i fix it???

Okay, mine is like that too Niky Rixono but, I emailed Nintendo about it.They said that it's possible to be fixed but your DSi has to be under warrenty. Anyway, they said to call this number, 1-800-255-3700. Any time around 6:00 AM - 7:00 PM. I hope this helps. There is no way to fix this problem but to call this number. IT'S NOT FAKE!!!!!

Game won't start

it could be the laser in the psp. also theres a orange tape in the psp. you will see it by the time you open the umd door. the orange tape could have been disconnected. or there could be wires in the psp that could be disconnected or send it in to sony if you have warrenty.

Ps3 wont read disks

Same thing happened to mine, I had to go to the store it was purchased from and have them re-create a receipt and call Sony to have them forward me a shipping box so I can send it to them for repair. More than likely its the disk drive going bad from what I was told.
