Question about Air Conditioners

2 Answers

I purchased a 7000 BTU portable airconditioner by commercial cool for Haier. I set it up without an issue and was able to turn it on and utilize the remote control to go through all the settings. A couple of hours later, I returned to the room and the remote control would not operate the unit. I changed the batteries in the remote (despite the fact that they were only 3 hours old) and was able to change one setting and the remote stopped working again. I switched the batteries a third time and the remote would not work at all. I even went so far as to put the original batteries back in and nothing. Unfortunately the only thing you can do on the unit itself is turn it off or on - everything else is done via the remote. Model #CPRBO7XC7

Exactly the same problem, even with the changing batteries in the remote and it did one thing, then nothing after that. Definitely sounds like a manufacturing problem.

I used my remote once. Then after that no luck. The batteries that had come with it had leaked. I tried cleaning out the remote and using new batteries, but appartently it is fried. Fortunately my roommate has a different model air conditioner, and his remote works for mine.

There may be a master reset switch or combination of buttons to press. The Manufacturer may be able to walk you through this process. Otherwise I would simply exchange it. It sounds like it has a manufacturing problem.

Where do I check the freon gas level in my Haier CPRB08XCJ

There are generally no fitting to connect to the sealed systems of portable air conditioners. You can buy a 'saddle valve' that will pierce the suction side and allow you to check low side pressure, but they will allow a very slow leak in most cases.
It likely uses R134a instead of Freon.

Unit has been working but suddenly stopped and won't turn on. what is the problem?

Look for a little compartment of slot for a fuse or a reset button. Do you have the owners manual? That might give you some solutions as well.

I have the Commercial Cool Model# CPR07XC9-LW 7000 BTU and it has been shutting down in the middle of the night. It beeps and a red light flashes on it. What does this mean?

It means that condensed water has accumulated in the unit. In the rear, on the bottom right, there is a water outlet drain. Tilt the unit slightly to drain the water in there. Be sure to unplug the unit first.

We just purchased a Haier Commercial Cool 12000 BTU portable air conditioner and the window exhaust slider is too short for our window...how can we correctly add on to the slider? We are short about 10...

At one time, Haier had an optional window kit for taller or wider windows. Contact their Product Support 1-877-337-363, to see if it's still available.

Leaking water

Very common problem with these systems. This depends on humidity in the air. Some systems have a setting that you can turn off the dehumidifier. The downside to this is it doesn't cool quite as well as humididty absords heat. The drain pan in your system is probably overflowing. You have a couple options, you could "hard drain" it to outdoors, empty the drainpan regulary, or change the air settings (this may not solve completely if you live in a humid area).
