Sounds like your print heads need calibration..run that, and do a test page.

Canon Printer MP250 doesn't want to keep the grayscale ONLY setting.many attempts to use only black ink but it keeps on setting color ink by default. SB001

If you are changing to greyscale before you print, it will only stay there for that print job. You need to go to the printer through the control panel - devices - printer and change it to greyscale. It should stay that way then.

Canon ip4300 color ink empty but I only want black

No, Canon does not have this facility. Also mostly greyscale is not light black but rather a mixcture of the 3 primary colours. You should have a reset/resume button on the printer - hold this in for a slow 5 seconds to de-activate ink warnings per cartridge that is giving alarms. Proceed carefully and only print text that is black so that the colour printheads do not burn out.

Despite doing all cleaning and maintenance, and using canon inks, print comes out faint in greyscale and pink otherwise thanks

We have an older Canon doing exactly this. We fitted a few print-head (quite expensive) but the problem remained. As other Canon printers work OK we have concluded that something has gone wrong with the interpreter in the printer and it is sending incorrect instructions to the print head. As this is too expensive to replace we now use this printer as our grayscale and pink printer. (i.e. it sits on the shelf - just in case)

Wont print out accurate color when printing a Greyscale photo

Hi, I recommend doing a nozzle check first to ensure all the colours are printing fine.
Within the advanced option of the printer driver you have an option to select greyscale, it might be worth enabling this feature.
If you are using glossy media the problem might be down to the ink reaction with the glossy resin as this can cause casting or bronzing. To check this try printing on matt paper.
If you are printing from Photoshop check your colour matching settings, the easiest way to do this without messing to much is try printing from another application, I would recommend Epson's own, Easy Photo Print.

I can print 4x6 photos but not documents from my computer

Maybe your phototray is still engaged. If the green light by the photo tray is on - then it is engaged and you cannot print documents. Lift up the clear lid of the little photo tray, pull it back towards you until it clicks in place. The light will go off. Close the tray lid.
You should be able to print documents now. Make sure the document tray below the photo tray has paper in it.
If all else fails, try Kodak's Help on-line at this site www.kodak.com/go/5100aiosupport
They have an on-line survey tool to help you with your problem. Good luck.

Canon i990 prints are too "pink"

I had the same problem and it turned out to be a combination of the actual paper and media type. Brother brand paper just printed way too pink and some Ilford papers did also. I had an image that was desaturated and even when printing as a greyscale came out magenta.
Was three nights of hard work to get sorted. try printing on plain paper with media type set to plain paper. good luck with it though, I know how frustrating it can be!
