Question about Dell E151FPp 15" TFT LCD Flat Panel Monitor

1 Answer

False color with Dell E151FPp and Mac Mini

I'd been using a Dell E151FPp with an aging Compaq PC - everything was fine on the display front.  We upgraded the computer to a Mac Mini, and used the DVI-sVGA converter supplied with the Mac Mini.
Now, the Macintosh color on the Dell screen is screwed up. Red appears black, yellow and green are difficult to distinguish, and everything (esp white) has a blueish tint.  I've fiddled with the Dell monitor settings endlessly, and also used the Mac Displays Calibration routine, all to very little effect.
Any ideas?

Make sure you've downloaded the driver for your video card. As long as that is installed and it supports higher resolutions, you should be able to go to your system settings and change it (this process will depend on your operating system).

Power Board Dell E151FPp

Did you check the fuse PF751, it should be less than 1 Ohm?
Also look for cold solder joints.

No display but power led is on

sounds like a video card problem in your pc. If you are using the onboard video output on your motherboard, you probably need a new one. If you are using a card that has been added to the board in a slot, try your onboard output (looks the same)

Dell E151FPp 15 TFT LCD flat panel dim

Do you have the same issue when the cable is disconnected from the computer? If so, and the the brightness function doesn't change, then you have an IC Chip failure and the replacement boards are not available to you or me as Dell is Dell and everything from them is proprietary. If you are under warranty pursue that if not, time to replace. Consider this a time, unwanted time, but time to upgrade.

Oh, your right about the sacrificial diode on the power card... you wouldn't see anything.

Hope this fixed ya.

Monitor problem

It sounds as if you have a resolution set that the display does not support. Restart your machine in safe/VGA mode by holding down F8 while the machine boots. Once in safe mode, set the resolution (Right click--> properties--> Settings--> Screen Resolution) to one that your display supports.
