ITunes Skips Like Crazy

Hi, I will assume that you have tried various settings with your iTune profile and soundcard settings, might it be that you will have to look elsewhere and probably start with the basics. Basically iTunes is a player and to play something, it has to read it from somewhere which i would presume is from your harddrive or another mass storage. Following this path, it has to be processed and temporarily stored somewhere before iTune come picking it up bit by bit and play. With that in mind, probably a few things you can check/try: 1. Have you defragged your drive lately? 2. Do you think you have sufficient memory? 3. Are there any other programs running (that may be processor/memory hungry)? 4. Are you running any anti-virus software and at what level of detection in real-time? 5. Is your video set-up as good as your audio set-up? 6. Have you tried setting your swap file bigger say double your RAM? 7. By any chance are you running an overclocked FSB? 8. Have you tried configuring your CMOS/BIOS to default or fail-safe settings? 9. Do you think you have sufficient power from your PSU? Hope this be of additional idea to you. Pls post back with how things turned up. Good luck and kind regards.

Tip

ITunes library on a new drive

If you have the two files iTunes.itl and iTunes Music.xml, you can trick Itunes into seeing your new library location when you move it to another drive.
Start with iTunes closed.

1. Copy the two files to a safe location.
2. Hold the Shift key down while opening iTunes
3. Tell iTunes to create a new library and locate it on the new drive.
4. Close iTunes
5. Copy all the music files into the new drive and iTunes folder
6. Copy the two files from the old location over the newly created iTunes files in the new folder.
7. Open iTunes
8. Check the music for playability.

This method will save you hours of importing time.

I am having trouble with download of itunes

Try downloading some software to hide your IP address. There's a program available at this link. Some countries restrict access to certain sites. If you can sucessfully download the setup files, save them to your desktop and try the installation from "SAFE MODE".

While your computer is starting press the F8 key repeatedly (about twice per second) until the choices menu appears. Choose "Safe Mode" and locate the downloaded setup file and then try it.

I bought some tunes on itunes and tried to download on my nano ipod. They not only did not download, but my ipod is now stuck in the connected mode. What do I do?

Do a hard restart on the evice.

1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
2. Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.
Tip: If you are having difficulty resetting your iPod, set it on a flat surface. Make sure the finger pressing the Select button is not touching any part of the click wheel. Also make sure that you are pressing the Menu button toward the outside of the click wheel, and not near the center.
If the above steps did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep.

Now connect it to iTunes. Select sync. To see if the songs did transfer, you can see whats on the device in iTunes before disconnecting it by looking at the device under itunes.

I have apple software update on my computer. I used it to download itunes + quicktime 8.2.1. It had a problem and a window came up saying to select download only. Well, I did and it's done. But now it says...

The software should have a list of the Apple products that you own that can be updated by the Apple Software Update. You need to select the product from the list, and then it will give you the option to Install.

If, for some reason, the software is not working correctly, you can always reinstall iTunes

ITunes

Copy all the songs into a folder, then look for duplicates, delete them, then delete all the songs in iTunes and then replay them (as MP3 Files) and they'll be moved into iTunes again else..Delete all of your music in your iTunes. Import all your music back into iTunes and in one of the submenus should be "view duplicates"delete the duplicates.
then in one of the submenus should be "consolidate library"
clicking this will move all of your music into one consolidated folder
