In this set, the complete horiz circuit is not replaceable, unless you were to replace the complete mother board.

The flyback and various failed parts may be replaced as required. There are troubleshooting procedures to determine the defective parts. This is performed by following tests and diagnostics using the service manual as a reference, and using the various test instruments to follow up for readings. This takes proper training, instrumentation, and experience to perform.

The average cost can be in the area of $160 to $250 US to service the horiz output stage, depending on the types of failures.

Fault in the main power supply regulator board. Check and replace damaged component/s at its main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts.

It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time. Even though you can make it right, it will cost around an amount equal to the cost of a new board; including the cost of (spare parts + service charge) More to say, most of the spare parts to it will be difficult to get from open electronic spare part market. This is true to most of the flat panel TV power supply boards; irrespective of its brand and screen size. Repair cost will depend on the cost of the power board.

No picture light flashes 7 times. Sound works

The Horizontal Deflection Circuit has failed. It is usually just the Horizontal Output Transistor but other failures could also occur. If you are willing, I would replace the Deflection Board, (also called the "D" Board). If it is available, it is going to cost around $400.00. But it most likely fix the problem. Sony's Parts Department should be able to help with the Board. Their # is 1800-222-SONY.

Picture has lines going across

No picture tube is cheap to replace. Especially a Sony tube. And besides the cost of the tube there's the labor cost to install it and some tedious adjusting needs to be done to set up the replacement. When a picture tube fails it's time to replace the set.

Now having said all that, there are different kinds of lines that can show on the screen. Some are because the tube is bad, but others can come from less expensive parts on the circuit board in the set. Without seeing the lines for myself I can't tell you about yours. If you are wanting to keep the set, I would suggest having a qualified shop check it. The can tell you for sure if it's the tube or not, and give you an estimate for the cost of repair.

SONY WEGA KV-36HS420 will not come on

The blinking is an indication that the set detected a problem. The code usually indicates a bad regulator circuit. If yu can solder, you can probably fix this your self. Please let me know if you wish to attempt the repair. If not, expect a parts cost in the $25-$40 range plus the local labor rate for the repair.

To have someone come to the house to repair you are looking at usually $75 service call plus $100 labor plus parts. If the circuit board needs to replaced it could be up to $200 to $300 for the board if it is still available, sony is going flat panel these days and parts for your set are fazing out. If you take it to a shop you will save money on pickup and delivery and make it easier for the tech to diagnose which should save you money.

Color lines/no picture

Well, if you still had a good picture before it happened, I would repair it.

This problem is usually a small part in the horizontal circuits. The service charges may be high, but the parts cost should be low.

This is a large heavy set, If you take it yourself to a shop you will save on the service call.

The power supply board is failing. There are twi integrated circuits in the horizontal drive circuitry that have to be replaced. The original integrated circuits are the same type and you will see written on each..."MCZ3001D" and need to be replaced with Sony # 670581001 or the "D" board with those parts on it needs to be replaced. The cost of the entire board is high-about $375.

the symptom is usually caused by a breakdown in the power supply circuit. in most modern receivers (transistorized and/or ic), it may also be caused by a breakdown in the horizontal deflection circuits (hor. oscillator, pre-drive, or drive circuits). supply voltages for the tuner, video if,sound if, and vertical output are usually supplied by the horizontal output circuit. but if you doesnt know anything about these stuffs, better bring it to a qualified service tecnhician. i cannot tell you the cost to fix your tv coz my location is in the Philippines.
