1. Change batteries.
2. Clean it.
3. Swap it with another location if you can.

If it still does not work properly consult the local fire dept. for free.

You may have to take it in repairs if all fails.

SOURCE: We have Nighthawk Carbon Monoxide

If the display shows "Err", push and hold the Peak Level button. Does the display change to "E09"? If so, then you have just been "had" by the grossly under-documented "planned obsolescence feature" called, rather matter-of-factly, "End of Life". This means that ~7 years after first being powered up, the unit will, BY DESIGN, cease to function, forcing you to buy a replacement. Would have been nice of Kidde to include THAT warning on the OUTSIDE of the package. Call their "Hotline" at 1-800-880-6788 and tell them what you think of that policy. If it is still under warranty (5 or 7 years depending on date of manufacture) they should replace it. In any event, buy another one; if they replace your first one you will have twice the protection. Not a bad thing. *Disclaimer: I am not a lawyer, despite the handle. Words to live by: "Every creative act results from a sudden cessation of stupidity." -Edwin H. My night hawk carbon monoxide reads L6. Then Err.

Lb (rather than L6) indicates a low battery. You need to replace the 9V battery in the carbon monoxide detector. The Err suggests an internal error but could just be due to the low battery.

If the Err persists after you replace the battery, press the peak level button (the right hand button) and check for an additional error code. If the Err message continues, replace the Night Hawk unit. If the unit is still under warranty, contact the manufacturer. Most of these units have a 10 year warranty. There are several models available from Kidde. The manual is available on the product site. For the KN-COPP-3 Night Hawk carbon monoxide detector, the documentation is available here: http://www.kidde.com/home-safety/en/us/products/fire-safety/co-alarms/kn-copp-3/ . Click on the Documents tab. The manual for the KN-COPP-3 999-0100 is here: http://www.utcccs-cdn.com/hvac/docs/2001/Public/06/User_Guide_KN-COPP-3_900-0100.pdf .

I hope this helps.

My nighthawk Kidde carbon monoxide detector keeps beeping every 25-30 seconds. Do I need to buy a new one?

Some models of Carbon Monoxide Detectors will give an audible beep every 25-30 seconds after it has sounded an alert alarm. This may have happened when there was noone home to hear it. A periodic beeping sound may also indicate it is time to change the battery.

Solution: Install a new battery and check your manual for instructions on how to reset the system. Check the expiry date on your unit, it needs to be replaced after 5 to 7 years, according to the manufacturer specifications.

If you are in doubt that your Carbon Monoxide Detector is not working effectively, REPLACE IT. Your safety and your peace of mind is worth it.

My Kidde Model # KN-COEG-3 keeps going off and lists 217 now 205 now again 217 and this is with the door open and fresh air coming into my place ??

I took the following from the Kidde website. They only answer the phone Mon-Fri, from 8-5, EST. I checked it out because my almost new Kidde CO detector is showing an Error code.
The next time your carbon monoxide alarm has ERR on the display, push and hold the Peak Level button. You will see an E and an O followed by a number.Contact our hotline at 1-800-880-6788 and provide us the error code, along with the model number, assembly number and date of manufacture from the back of your unit.If your unit is under warranty, a replacement will be mailed to you.

Detecotrs have a limited lifespan of 5-7 years. So sounds like you need new one (It's not worth to buy just a sensor). Take a look on amazon: Amazon com Carbon monoxide detector (watch out on reviews). I hope this was helpful. cheers

YES!!!! If this unit is working properly you should not be in the house. Maximum allowable safety level for an 8 hour period is 50! If you think it's working properly call the fire department! This will cause dizziness, nausea, etc. Let your fire department find the problem! If you don't believe me follow this link to owner's manual but do it quickly: http://www.kiddeus.com/utcfs/ws-384/Assets/KN-COB-B(9CO5)en.pdf
