Question about Cell Phones

1 Answer

I have a 32 inch Samsung Full HD television (Model LA32B550K1F). I've had it 14 months and it's out of warranty. I use it on average 2 hours a week so it's barely used. This week each time I turn it on the sound comes and the picture does not at all, full blank screen. Is it the capacitors? The tech near me thinks it's the invertor that'll cost $300 - $500. What's your ideas? I'm handy with a soldering iron but an electical warnings would be of assistance. Thankyou!!

That is somewhat surprising.Samsung is supposed to be one of the best currently available. If you still have the receipt and it's a 1-year warranty,I would at least contact Samsung. When the person answers, ask for a supervisor and be persistent and maybe they will do something.Probably not but worth a try. When it comes down to it,tell them you are going to go buy another brand(whichever you want),and blog about Samsung's bad TV.Back to reality, lol. There is a component which I think would be mounted on the board, that sends electric signals to the inner screen and excites the LCD crystals to produce a picture on the outer screen.I am not sure if you can order just that or if only the board is available.I have seen people talk about backlights,it seems to happen alot with LCD's and you should try that first.Just be careful with the screen because it is 2 screens sealed together and will be very easy to distort/break.If you do end up having to solder,I can tell you how to discharge the caps easily and safely but it will end up being the final thing which is wrong so I'll leave it for now.If you want to know for future reference though, just write me and put fixya in the subject so I know it's not more SPAM. gmccarthy86 hotmail Good luck,Greg

Hi liam, this is a common problem and quite easy to fix.
Unfortunately Samsung decided to use inferior generic power boards with their sets. They pretty much use the same power supply for the 32, 37 and 40 inch TV's. This is a great idea for production, unfortunately the power supply fails on the 40 and 42 inch models because of load. I find these power boards pretty cheap on Ebay and replacing them is a breeze. Just keep an eye out for the refurbished boards, since these have been beefed up a bit to compensate for the extra power drain.

My 32 inch samsung lcd tv has got faint black lines running down the screen ,its nearly 4 years old but i expected it to last longer than that, and ive had sky hd box recently would that have anything todo...

Are these lines on both side of the screen or what location are they in? They can be caused by watching 4:3 television with the black bars on both sides. Watching 16:9 full screen HD wont cause issues with that. If only on the sides there is not much you can do except put a pure white screen on the TV and leave that on for at least 6 hours. This will age the panel a little but in theroy wil even the pixel burn you have to make the lines less noticable. Please take a few moments to rate my answer. Thank you

Complete black screen on samsung 46 inches

Thats Samsung for you. They are designed to last just right outside the warranty then fail. Typically the LCD panels are bad, and they are the most expensive part on that Korean unit.

Vertical Black line 3 inch width on Plasma Samsung 42C96HD after 2 months of use

I also have the same problem I phoned Samsung today to explain the tv was only 14 months old, they didn't wanna no because it was out of warrenty by 2 months. I am getting a black solid line down the left hand side of the screen. I ended up phoning Dixons were we bought it from, they have told me to get an independent engineers report done & send the report to them within 14 days. Dixon told me it was a known problem with Samsungs. They said they will fix it free of charge if they can if not they will send vouchers to the same value of the television. So beware stay clear of Samsungs.

This should be repairable. It may be the LVDS Cable or the Main board problem. The only other problem is the T-Con Board.
