Question about Computers & Internet

Hi, I am trying to recharge a friends' MIO P350. I have the appropriate adapter and have plugged it in to the power socket but the recharge light will not come on and battery power is still diminishing. Any ideas?

Hello,

it is possible that the adapter is defective, that's why it won't recharge the battery. The reverse might also be the case, that is, the battery might be defective.

Now, borrow an adapter and test it with the MIO P350 or the adapter on another MIO P350. This will reveal whether or not the adapter is good, so that we can focus our attention and other possible cause of the problem.

But first, you need to confirm if the adapter is working or not. Because presently, it looks as if the adapter is bad.

Good luck.

Power problem

POWER SUPPLY & BATTERY PROBLEM
If the laptop battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be worn out. Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles and will lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% and gradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up at all. OR The battery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected the battery drops off to zero capacity in a very short time. If the battery drops to an unacceptable charge level then the battery needs to be replaced. Rechargeable batteries will fail if stored in a discharged state for long periods. When you connect the power adapter into the laptop, does the power LED light up? If not then - The battery adapter or the adapter's power lead or the laptop's power socket could be faulty. Check power adapter's DC plug that connects into the laptop power socket with a multi-meter, the voltage should be slightly higher than the voltage that is printed on the label on the bottom of the adapter. If the voltage is zero or way below the voltage that is printed on the label then the power adapter is faulty and needs to be replaced. If the adapter is OK then connect it to the laptop and power it up, then look at the power/battery charging LED light and wriggle the power plug in the laptop's power socket. If the power/battery LED light flashes and in a certain position this LED light stays firm, then the power socket is either faulty or it has a dry solder joint where it is connected to the motherboard. This can be repaired but it requires the laptop to be completely dismantled to get at this power socket and repair. If you cannot DIY then I suggest you get a quote first.

Check the power adapter with a multi-meter, the voltage of the power plug that plugs into the power socket on the laptop should be slight higher than the voltage that is printed on the label on the adapter.
If it is faulty, there are replacement power supplies available on the Internet or at your friendly computer shop.
If the adapter is OK then the power socket on the laptop is faulty or this socket has a dry solder joint connection on the motherboard.
You can test this by wriggling the power plug when it is connected to the laptop, if the charge LED flickers and if you hold this plug in a certain position the charge LED stays on without flickering, then the power socket is faulty.
This can be repaired, but requires the laptop to be completely
disassembled. I suggest you get a quote first.

Mitac Mio 168 sound - adapter 2.5 to 3.5 mm jack

Hi,
I believe there is something wrong, its a normal stereo socket.
I use differend 3.5 to 2.5 adapter (standard, from the shelf)without any problem to connect an FM Stereo-Transmitter.
The best solution to connect your car radio, its wireless.
