Hi. This is a USB Plug N Play floppy drive. All you need to do is to plug it in to USB port and you computer should be able to the drive. The disk you're going to use there is a floppy 3.5 inch 1.44mb disk. I dont know if computer shops are still selling this disks.

Teac external floppy disc drive will not format floppy disc

U need an interface, if u want to use the "34 pin out" from floppy disk unit, to the "24 pin in" connector jack, inside KN 1000 main board.
U can get this interface unit bboard from "the KN 1000 floppy disk drive unit".
Just open this unit SY-FD20, and pick out that interface board from this unit,
Then use it as interface to connect your new 34 pin out floppy disk drive to connecting to the 24 pin in connector jack inside the KN 1000 mainboard.

I can not locate where the memory stick is located on my Digital Mavica MVC-FD85. pleaase let me know

I'm sorry to inform you that the MVCFD85 Camera does not have a Memory Stick slot. The medium using in the Mavica FD camera is floppy disc.
The MSAC-FD2M floppy disk adapter can be used in some FD Mavica digital cameras.
With the help of the above mentioned Floppy disc adapter, you can insert a memory stick inside the adapter and insert it in to the floppy disk drive on the camera.

I have a Sony 2X FDD model MPF88E-UA. My vista HP doe not read the disc, tells me to inialize the disc??? I've looked for drivers and can't find??? Terri hartfeltdesigns@verizon.net 732.558.8388

Hi Terri,
Try changing your operating system from Vista to Windows XP; you can partition your disc to have another OS alternative. People have reported a lot of glitches with the Vista Environment..I am more comfortable with good old XP. Also check your device manager under control panel.

Cheers & Kind Regards

When a floppy disc is inserted it flashes disk

The floppy driver has an internal switch that detects when the floppy disk is protected or not.

It is likely such switch is damaged.

It is necessary to open the camera and the floppy drive to fix it.

If you have experience and skills in fixing electronic devices, or want to try it, then you can try its repair.

The alternative is to pay to have repaired, but is more likely that the quote you will receive is to replace the whole floppy drive, which costs around $40.00 plus the repair labor.

DISC ERROR

This means the the floppy disk drive has dirty the reader/recorder heads, or the heads are misaligned, or the floppy has a mechanical problem during the reading process.

You can start in blowing compressed air inside the floppy disk.

If it does not work, then the floppy drive will need to be serviced or replaced.

Best regards,

Floppy disc not working

Sometimes u can go to a different computer and get the disk to work. Most of the time u can't though. I suggest you try a few different computers (new and old computers) and if you get one to read it get your info off and save it to another floppy or a flash drive or something. I have also tried the format option and it will always say that the disk can't be formatted. I usually toss them in the trash after that.
You may also try running a standard windows scandisk on the disk. A lot of people feel more secure saving their stuff to a floppy, mostly because it's something physical they can hang onto and carry around. But the truth is that they are far too unreliable to use given the wide range of other options available today (e-mail, ftp, jump drives, hard drives, cd-roms, etc.)

Drive error

This is an early floppy drive model yes? Drive error could refer to corrupt floppy disc or a failure of the drive. Check the disc angle first - new disk formatted to camera. If it is not that - then buy another camera A repair I guess will not be an option -but checkout Sony first.
