Just purchased a brand new replacement bulb 6 days ago and today after 3 hours of viewing, the TV shut off on its own. I checked the bulb, but regardless the set turns off. The fan works perfect and all else is fine. My set indicates all 3 leds on which tells me the bulb is bad. What can I do? Could it be the bulb is defective?

To start unplugg it for a few hours, I know it sounds dumb but it will reset the set. If that does work get the TV on a surge protector. It would surprise me if this needs service beyond that, this brand is very service prone
I have a 57" DLP and have replaced the bulb 3 times in 2&1/2 years. I'm not possitive but I think I have 6-800 hrs on it total. Mitsubishi claims it a part they expect to go out, but the told me they typically last about ten yrs. If you have proof of purchase they will send you a new one for free, otherwise it'll cost you about $150 on ebay.
The looks of the bulb are no indication that it's okay. How many hours of operation do you have on that bulb? The bulbs are average rated for 5000 hours, but its been my experience that they usually last on average 3000 hours. Try replacing the bulb and then check and rest the buld hours counter.. Best place I've found for purchasing the bulbs is DLP lampsource. They'll sell you just the bulb without the housing at a dramatic savings. http://www.dlplampsource.com/
To display the lamp time press [ 2 ] nine times. to reset press [ 3, mute, enter.] Or with the set in standby press [ display, 5, vol up, power ] then press [ jump 3.]
Hope this helps!
