My digital camera, when putting in newly recharged batteries, all of a sudden decided to turn on for a moment, then sounds very weak at opening the camera lens, then will shut down and beep three times.... any help would be grateful :-)

Re: Camera not working - S85 Digital Samsung Camera
If you've had the rechargeable batteries for a long time, they can wear out. I would try getting some new rechargeable batteries or try some lithium batteries in your camera. They're a little more expensive but they're the best for digital devices and they last a little longer.

Assuming you've tried the obvious test of using new batteries, it's unfortunately likely to be the infamous "lens error". This is such a common problem that someone has written a blog just
addressing this one error. You can read
it here - it describes it far more completely than I ever could!
I have had similar symptoms that seem to be due to battery power.
Using and OHM meter I find that the Samsung S85 eats batteries. If the charge drops to 1.4 something volts from a 1.5+ volt battery, the camera does not function properly.
The camera is nice an compact ... but I need to carry the same volume in batteries to make sure I can use it.
first off, never use rechargable batteries in this camera or most digital cameras for that matter.2 use only lithium batteries, enegizer preffered.,also yes you can view all your pictures when connecting the usb, meke sure you turn the power on,and highlight the word computer, push ok.you should be fine.good luck .i hope i helped
I figured out the fix: Take the batteries out, put them back in and close the battery cover. Next, turn on the camera and before it can finish the three beep sequence, open up the battery cover(disconnecting the battery power). Close the battery cover (reconnecting the batteries) and switch on the camera. It may take a couple of tries, but it seems to be a "poor man's reset"
