    Go to sharp's website, www.sharpusa.com
Then hover over customer support, then click on product downloads.
    Select product type
    Blu-ray disc players
select Model not listed(in your case)
    model not listed
(Now type in your model number if it's not listed)
    Select Download type
    Firmware

    You'll get two results.
    Click the top one
(The bottom one is the instructions)

It'll say Do you want to open or save this file
    Click SAVE

    Save it to your desktop
    NOT to the usb

When it's done downloading click "Open folder"
Then double click on the file.
It should be named, "DVD_SOFT..." ect.

The file inside will end with the letters "rvp" or "mvp"
Right click on it and click COPY
Then, open up your blank (4 gigs or less) USB
Right click in the middle of the folder and click paste.
Then close the page and take out usb.

Put usb in back of blu-ray.

Power on blu-ray W/OUT disc inside.
When it gets to the home screen, press SETUP button on remote.
    Choose SETTINGS
    Then SOFTWARE UPDATE
It'll ask you to insert USB, click OK.
It will detect the usb and the file.
    If any problems,
    Call sharp 800-BES-HARP (800-237-4277)

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

I updated software to my BD-HP22 with the US region but I use my BD-HP22 in Australia. My BD-HP22 now can't play normal DVD. I want to reverse my update. please help.

Word of warning Sharp does not prevent uploading from alternate region in error. I made this mistake and after speaking to Sharp UK cannot do anything but wait for newer version release if at all. once uploaded reversals is impossible.

Blue ray won't play Avatar?

There is a firmware update for the BD-HP22. I had the same problem with Avatar but after I installed the firmware update, it loaded and ran smooth. Use the USB flash drive that came with the player or any other usb flash drive to load the firmware update. Check the link below for instructions and update file from Sharp's website.

I have a Samsung BD-P1000 Blu-Ray Disc Player that will not play Blu-Ray discs rented from BlockBusters in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. To Date, of all my 100 regular DVD, and approximately 25 owned Blu-Ray...

BD-P1000 Update Solution
The solution that worked for me: I went to www.samsung.com/ca and downloaded the Samsung BD-P1000 player's firmware update to my desktop. When opened, I was directed to"burn" a DVD on my computer. I then inserted the new DVD in my Blu-Ray player. The player automatically checked and confirmed player model number and registration and uploaded information from the DVD and the update was complete. The BD-P1000 then flawlessly played the rented Blu-Ray disc of "The Scorpion King".
Thank You Samsung!
