Question about ViewSonic VX910 19" LCD Monitor

1 Answer

I have a ViewSonic VX910 Monitor. How do I open the case to examine and if necessary, replace the lamp. I removed the 4 screws on the back of the monitor, but I can't get the back off. The display is blank, the power on light is not lit. Thanks for any help you can give me. Vaughn Price Mesa, AZ

Start at the bottom edge and work your way around using thin flat blade screw driver.

My monitor will display the picture for approx 1-2 seconds, then the word "analog" is seen and immediately the picture disappears. Bottom line: the picture won't stay on.

I assume that you have already try this monitor with new VGA cable and with another PC but still get the same result, just want to narrow down the problem before opening it up.
Most common failure in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed VIEWSONIC nad other monitors to get some ideas what goes wrong: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further.

The problem can be caused by bad caps in the power supply, bad inverter circuits, bad lamps. You need to open it up and look inside first and report back what you see so we can guide you further, see example of failed monitors due to bad caps here: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums

It's a Viewsonic VX715 Monitor. When it's turned ON, It goes black in 3 seconds.

It can be one of thses: bad caps (bulging top or bottom seal) in the power supply, bad backlight inverter circuits, bad lamps. You need to open it up and lool for bad caps first, then measure the voltages across the filter caps, you should have 5vdc and 12~18vdc (there are two power supplies: 5vdc for logic, 12~18vdc for backlights citcuits) Post back what you find so we can guide you further, see example of failed VIEWSONIC monitors due to bad caps: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums

Monitor turns black after 2 seconds, Viewsonic VX910

Check the power supply first for bad caps, then check to see if you do have 12vdc feeding the the inverter circuits, worst case will be the lamps, see example of failed VIEWSONIC monitors due to bad caps: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums

I have viewsonic vx910.It does not seem to have any power.what do I check in the power supply? is this something I can fix HELP!

carl_p90, I don't know what you are capable of doing in the matter of "checking" the unit's "switch-mode-power-supply/CCFL voltage INVERTER circuits"!!! I have responded to another VX910 that you should read first. (kimespinoza Nov 04, 2009) The only option I did not mention to her was to do the visual inspection for the possible FAILED electrolytic filter capacitors on the SMPS/inverter combo board! Visit YOUTUBE for cilps of "LCD monitor disassembly" and "LCD monitor repair" videos. The longer ones are more helpful! Also check out www.ccl-la.com/badcaps.htm to see what is involved in doing your own repair work if you discover BAD CAPS in your unit. Then get back here if you need some assistance. Tell us more about your VX910 such as age, approx total "on" hrs of use, and results of doing the "FLASHLIGHT TEST" that every LCD owner should know how to perform when encountering a non-sleep-mode BLACK-SCREEN of DEATH!!! I will be checking for a comment from you after you do some research on your problem. Here is a clue!! Do you own any of the NEW style CURLIE-Q screw-in CFL light bulbs! Same technology lights up your LCD PANEL!!! Only you have thin, straight lamps hung on rear of your panel. Bye for now. 12fixlouie

Vx912 case removal I've taken off 4 mounting screws & 4 others in corners. Case still fixed firm. Don't want to break clips - where do I apply force please?

Please Note: all the LCD monitors are power packed with air pressing, you will need to pull the frame from front to remove the case, it is very simple and easy, just pull it softly with equal pressure on the corner.

ViewSonic VX910 monitor has a power supply issue.

Your monitor have a bad condensator in the PSU.

The only thing to do is to replace the Power Supply Unit (very expensive, more than a new monitor) or if you have electronic tools, found and replace that condensator.(cheaper way...)

or

Have you connected your monitor with a new power cord ?

Best Regards!
