Question about Aiptek IS-DV2 Camcorder
Greetings MoMo Mo,
This camcorder does not come with a charger. It can be energized in two different ways.
1) Power this camcoreder by plugging into your computer with the included USB cable.
2) Use two AA batteries (sold seperately).
I hope this helps.

SOURCE: Draining battery
This camera has had problems with the primary switch block faulting. The camera will power up all by itself when unattended and drain the battery. Another symptom would be the battery refuses to charge fully because the camera must remain in the "OFF" mode for the charge process to begin. Sony in Laredo, TX is replacing these controls at little or no cost, I would call them to see if they will repair this for you. Hope this helps you. You can call this telephone number for the Panasonic parts sales 1-800-332-5368. Tell them the brand name and model number of the palmcorder. Ask them if they sell the connecting cable for the a/c line connector (Part numbers PV-A19 & PV-A20) to the palmcorder. You may have to purchase the complete a/c package. If so you can put the brand name and model number of the palmcorder and the above part numbers into your search engine and find alternative places to buy the a/c connector. I hope this information helps you with your problem.

Hello. Yes, you do need power to open the disc door. When you slide the disc cover open switch, you should hear the little musical sound, and then the "preparing to open cover" appears in the lcd display. Then the door opens automatically. As for charging the corder, you can get a new ac charger for 25 bucks on Ebay. Sony uses a special plug that is inserted. If you want to go the cheaper route, I saw mobile *battery* chargers for your unit(not to be used as camcorder power supplies) as inexpensive as 8 bucks...most were 10 dollars and up...the input voltage/current to the cam is 12v @ 500ma. However, the fact that the connector isn't the generic "cylinder" shaped power connector makes purchasing a compatable power source a necessity. ---Rick

Ok, let's try the "easy fixes" first. When this problem happens, it can be a oxidized power switch contact, or oxidized battery contacts on the camera. Clean the battery contacts and the contacts on the camcorder with an eraser gently (they are gold plated). See if the camcorder works now. The next step is only if you're not planning on taking the camcorder apart. There are times when you can give the camcorder a slightly hard "whack" with the palm of your hand, somewhere near the power switch, while the power switch is on, and if the camera works, then you know it's most likely a dirty or oxidized contact inside. See if you can get it working with these methods. If you can't, you will have to disassemble the camcorder or have it serviced. Get an estimate if you get it serviced, since it can be expensive, and you might just opt for a replacement.
