Question about Craftsman 3 gal. Air Compressor, 1.5 hp, Horizontal k

1 Answer

While using my 3 gallon air compressor, i noticed the sound of the compressor changed a little bit. I then noticed that the tank was not being filled with air anymore. The compressor runs fine but never produces any air in the tank. Thanks for your assistance.

Blows fuses, will not run. not used much, 2 years old

Wild guess rust Does it have a tank? does it have a condensate drain? Are you sure the starting condenser is ok? It sounds almost as if the piston is frozen. Sometimes this kind of thing happens to Airconditioning compressors. You might try a "slow blow fuse" and increase fuse capacity. There is a "hard start" kit which is an extra starting electrical condenser so if none of the above helps and no warranty and mine I'd spray a tiny bit of wd-40 into the intake let it sit overnight. try again.

Husky Pro 26 gallon air compressor ~ how do I drain water from this? I can feel a bolt on the bottom of the compressor with a rubber thing in the center. Do I need to loosen the bolt to drain it?

yes, loosen that bolt after you have built up a little bit of air in the tank, it will blow the water out , when the water quits coming out, tighten it up and your problem is over.

When you first brake it in yes as long as its not coming out of a gasket or oil seal. But a little out the tank drain is normal and it should after 3 or 4 uses you should drain the air from the tank each use because it will build up water inside and rust the tank out if you don't.

Need air tank 26 gal tank rusted through

Contact local repair shops for used tank. May be different size or configeration but a little creativity will save lots of money. Usually motor or pump will fail so there are many good tanks around. Or order new from or ,good luck

Motor starts sounding normal then after 2-3 seconds stops & just humms.

I suspect the check valve is stuck closed causing excess high pressure in the cylinder and too much load for the motor. The check valve is OFTEN right at the tank where the compressor output line goes into the tank.

Craftsman air compressor wont hold more than 15lbs of air?

Change that coupling . You can try spraying a little WD-40 or similar into it, while you push it open with a screwdriver, just to see if that helps seal it better. If air leaking by there all the time, compressor that small can't keep up.
