Question about Estate TAWX700JQ Top Load Washer
My washer will fill up and then it just sits nothing happens. It wont agitate, spin, or drain. Any suggestions?
This is a typical symptom of a defective lid switch. As you open and close the washer lid, you should hear a "clicking" sound. If you do not, the lid switch is probably loose or broken. The lid switch is located on the right hand side under the washer casing rim. It is activated through a small hole by a plastic piece on the lid called a lid strike. If this piece is broken off, the lid switch will also not activate. Inspect the switch mounting screws (two of them on along the wash tub rim) and make sure they are tight, and make sure the lid strike is in place. If you need to replace the switch, click on the following link for step-by-step instructions:
If you require replacement parts, you can find them at searspartsdirect.com. Just type in your model number and the you can find the lid switch listed under the "Top and Cabinet/Literature" heading as item number 9 (part #3949247). The lid strike is item number 20 (part #358684). This is a simple repair that you can accomplish yourself and the cost is minimal. If you need further assistance, please post back and let me know. I hope this is helpful to you.
