Install disks for hardware get stale really fast. You download a current driver for WinXP from http://www.mustek.com.tw/Download/driv_scanr/english/1200ed.html If you want to install on Linux, I think there might be a couple of compatible drivers for that too. Otherwise it's not too bizarre, things all riff off the same TWAIN-II spec so you don't have a lot of rewrite to do.
If you work in a Mac environment, there might be some SilverFast drivers for that family of scanner. They cost money and are worth it (if you use the scanner.)

This scanner will not work with NTFS systems - it was built for DOS system [95/98] You could try My Computer/Windows help/Program Compatability and try resetting the computer to run as Win 98 - it may work. Otherwise replace the scanner.
