Question about Supra SW5L65D Front Load Washer / Dryer

Supra Washer/Dryer Combo Machine

Hello, we purchased less than 1 year ago a Supra Machine. It is the machine that runs on 220V and has been a wonderful machine until recently. It washes great and dry's great but it does not spin. We have checked to see if the belt was in place, which it was and even watched it go through a small wash cycle. I went through everything just as it was suppose to until it got to the spin cycle. It clicked and then just rotated the drum as in the wash cycle. To say the least, it is not possible to dry immediately, we must hang the clothing for a while outside in order to get the majority of the water out of the clothing and then finish drying it with the machine. We are not getting any support from the person whom we purchased the machine from (it was purchased brand new from a Ebay vendor), We do not have any repair persons who are willing to work on it as it is something very unfamiliar around here. If the unit fails to spin it may be something as simple as a bad switch (or the no-spin button was inadvertently pushed in). The spin cycle is controlled by a circuit board that also checks for balance. If the board senses an out of balance it will not spin. Try running the machine empty; if it spins empty the load may be the culprit. If it does not spin empty you may be dealing with a bad circuit board. If any other component is defective it would not rotate at all.

Parts for these units are in rare supply since Supra has stopped importing these units in 2006 and the Spanish factory manufacturing them closed down. There are some parts available at They also offer manuals and e-mail tech support. Billiot Specialties was the tech support contractor for Supra. The number in the manual actually rings to their facility but is not always answered.

Bernina Record 730 - made in 1965ish. Recently he has started sewing very slowly although the bobbin winder worked normally. We cannot find out why this is happening.

Oh, no! Do NOT give up on your oldie but goodie! The symptoms are common with older mechanical machines. These machines are wonderful and deserve to be given another chance. Most often, the old oil solidifies and causes the moving parts to seize. With persistence, patience, and a couple of very simple supplies, many of these machines are happily sewing again. The secret is a combination of Tri-Flow and heat and making sure that "all" the moving parts get lubed, even the stitch levers and dials. I have resurrected several older Berninas using the following technique. Several completely seized machines required multiple repetitions over a period of days. If the machine does not have any cracked gears, most likely it can be made worthy again and make your grandmother proud that she gave you such a lasting, wonderful gift.

Resist the temptation to try to run the motor until the machine has gone through a thorough "treatment" and is moving freely manually. Once the machine is moving freely, you will rejoice at the happy and satisfied sound it makes!

Good luck with your lovely!

Line trimmer starts and runs well until it gets hot. As soon as throttle let off dies and won't restart until cools down. Less than one year old.

If you are mixing your gas and oil than make sure the ratio is correct, to much fuel and you will run hot, to much oil and you will smoke a lot. Also check spark plug gap that could make machine run hotter than it should be. Make sure engine cooling fins are free of dirt and debris. If it's really less than one year old and if problem persists and you still have heat issue take it back to where you purchased and have them check it out or give you a replacement, a new machine should not run in this manner could be a lemon, it happens. Good Luck...

I purchased this Imperial HD freezer maybe 12 years ago and have had no problem with it until recently. The top shelf shows partial frost but the other shelves are only cool t the touch. It will not...

Does this machine have manual or self defrost? There may be a switch you have to pull to defrost.
Also, the condenser or compressor fan may not be operating or condenser coils may be really dirty.
Or, door may not be closing all the way causing inefficiency.Sometimes light doesn't go out causing to much heat inside (believe it or not).

Hope suggestions helpful

My 220V washer dryer combo model SW5L70D Is taking three to four cycles to dry a load of laundry. Im not quite sure how to fix that problem considering its ventless.

Could be a heater problem some of them have a duel spring heater and one can pop and the other one will continue to work but causes this problem since its vent-less or you might have a bad thermostat that is not letting it heat up to where it needs to be. I would have a qualified service technician come look at it to save you some time and money but hope this helps and good luck...

I think I need a power board because my machine keeps stopping. Have to wait to start again. Also my light is broke. I have a 1171 and wondered if parts are still available for that machine. It was my moms...

Hi, ..go for the simple first. It could be motor brushes..the next time the machine stops try turning the handwheel and see if it starts to run again. If it does, the motor brushes are worn down. It would probably be less than a 100.00 to repair it.

Good Luck!
