Supra Washer/Dryer Combo Machine

Hello, we purchased less than 1 year ago a Supra Machine. It is the machine that runs on 220V and has been a wonderful machine until recently. It washes great and dry's great but it does not spin. We have checked to see if the belt was in place, which it was and even watched it go through a small wash cycle. I went through everything just as it was suppose to until it got to the spin cycle. It clicked and then just rotated the drum as in the wash cycle. To say the least, it is not possible to dry immediately, we must hang the clothing for a while outside in order to get the majority of the water out of the clothing and then finish drying it with the machine. We are not getting any support from the person whom we purchased the machine from (it was purchased brand new from a Ebay vendor), We do not have any repair persons who are willing to work on it as it is something very unfamiliar around here. If the unit fails to spin it may be something as simple as a bad switch (or the no-spin button was inadvertently pushed in). The spin cycle is controlled by a circuit board that also checks for balance. If the board senses an out of balance it will not spin. Try running the machine empty; if it spins empty the load may be the culprit. If it does not spin empty you may be dealing with a bad circuit board. If any other component is defective it would not rotate at all.

Parts for these units are in rare supply since Supra has stopped importing these units in 2006 and the Spanish factory manufacturing them closed down. There are some parts available at www.billiotspecialties.com They also offer manuals and e-mail tech support. Billiot Specialties was the tech support contractor for Supra. The number in the manual actually rings to their facility but is not always answered.

My 220V washer dryer combo model SW5L70D Is taking three to four cycles to dry a load of laundry. Im not quite sure how to fix that problem considering its ventless.

Could be a heater problem some of them have a duel spring heater and one can pop and the other one will continue to work but causes this problem since its vent-less or you might have a bad thermostat that is not letting it heat up to where it needs to be. I would have a qualified service technician come look at it to save you some time and money but hope this helps and good luck...

The Drum turns, but no heat, is it ok? Different machine, same problem. I've switched out the timer, thermostat/fuse assembly, and element. Though the feedback for this machine was great when I bought...

check your breaker, sometimes if one side of the 220v breaker trips and not the other then the dryer will run with no heat. if you have a voltage meter then check the outlet itself for a full 220v.

Kenmore Washer/Dryer Combo purchased in late 2000

Call a local repair tech. I know one in Milwaukee :)

Seriously, your machine needs some possibly expensive repairs beyond a novice's skills. The dryer has a felt bearing around the front of the drum that is probably worn out. Check on the rear bearing and the belt at the same time. The washer may need a new transmission, belt, tub seal, and spin bearing. That's an involved repair. Expect to pay extra for labor, but the total bill should be less than the $800 - $1400 for a new machine.

Supra SW5L30D parts

You can get parts for the Supra SW5L30D from EdgeStar (can't figure out if EdgeStar bought Supra, or if Supra just changed their name or what). 866-319-5473. I've been able to get the parts I've needed, though they're not the most efficient operation. One time I had to wait for someone to get back from vacation before the part could ship...

Try to replace the doorlock with a new one. Worth a try.

Machine runs, but clothing won't dry

It sounds like your heating element is shot. The elements on this machine are very sensitive and if you use too much cleaning fluid the part will wear down after a while. You will need to get the part replaced (yuck) and start to use a little less washer fluid. Please let me know about your experience with the company (danfrogel@yahoo.com)
