No Picture on the LCD screen or view finder

I Have The Same Problem as AJB7 - There is no picure in my view finder or LCD screen. I have all of my display menu's and such, but no picture, and yes the lense cover is down. There is a small eye looking icon in the screen, and I can view old videos, but when I try and record the screen is pitch black even though audio is recording.
No picture in lcd or view finder. just black. it always tries to tell me that my lense cover is down but it isnt
