I just otday purchased a low-cost Dell Inspiron box, and was told that it could connect to our domain running Vista Home Premium. this is NOT the case, and apparently I need Business, enterprise or Ultimate... BUT, the Anytime Upgrade link only allows me to buy a DVD to be sent to me. This takes too long.
I need to upgrade to a Vista version that lets me get this computer on the company domain or else the computer is virtually worthless and I'll have to return to Best Buy.
Can you please help me figure out how I can upgrade? Or should I just reformat the disk and install XP?
Please install ur original windows cd ,when in desktop image appear with options click install windows vista then in options choose upgrade and then follow the instructions and after update restart ur system hope inshallah works

The minimum recommended ram for Vista is 1 GB, generally accepted practical minimum is 2 GB. A 1 GB system will be kinda laggy. Maximum RAM for 32 bit Vista is 4 GB.
Vista Home Premium is roughly equivalent to Windows XP Media Center Edition (Has Media Center, cann't be put on a DOMAIN type network)
Vista Business is roughly equivalent to Windows XP Professional (Can Join a Domain, Doesn't have Media Center)
Vista Ultimate has all available freatures of Vista, you can do any windows function with Ultimate
Hi again. You are not going to be able to recover the system without the CD as there is no recovery partition for that model Dell machine. You can purchase a recovery disk at minimal cost to yourself from here>>>>>>
checklist:
1. sound driver
2. microphone settings in volume control applet
3. tap test (tap the area around the microphone and see if eg Sound Recorder picks it up)
4. external microphone
If you get to step 4 before you get anything then your problem is one of missing or damaged microphone.
