REFERENCE M/N: 395 - Type 3 - Dremel does not have the parts listing on their site for some reason. I actually have the original I saved from 1988!
The part number for the Nylon Coupler is:

I found that if you get a plastic drinking straw of the right diameter(I used a .3 in outside diameter) and cut off a one inch piece, it will slide over the splines with enough friction to drive the shaft. I added a little Goop(a rubbery adhesive you can buy in a tube) in each end of the straw for extra grip. I haven't used the unit a lot since I fixed it, so I can't comment on longevity of the repair. But if it doesn't last too long, straws are cheap.

Motor works but no drive to shaft.

My 15 year old Dremel 395 had the same problem so I took it apart. There is a plastic spline between the motor and the output shaft to the chuck . My plastic spline was split and had many of its teeth sheared off. The shaft lock acts on the output shaft side of this spline, so it was ok. Otherwise everything looked great; bearings ran free & had little play free, brushes ok. To be fair, my Dremel had seen hard use & doesn't owe me anything. No luck so far finding replacement spline parts, which if available should be easy to install. To take apart your tool, just google "Dremel Disassembly". GOOD LUCK!

The motor on my dremel 395 works but the bit doesn't turn

there is a coupling between the motor and the spindle that has probably cracked or stripped out. I suggest going to Dremel.com and getting an original replacement part for this. They are not hard to install.

My dremel tool runs fine (the motor)but the spindle stopped turning. Bumping it a few times will sometimes get it started again.

there is a tubing connector between the collet and the motor, they hot glue these together. i just go to the auto parts store and get a new piece of tubing and glue it the same way.you will have to partially disassemble it to replace the coupling. if you disassemble it the collet just lays in the housing on the motor side cut the tubing to the right length. a slightly smaller size won't need the glue.

Coupling broke

I have a Dremel 395 Type 3. Motor works fine, shaft doesn't turn. Took it apart to find that the white plastic or nylon flex coupling on the shaft had crumbled and the spline driver, which fits directly over the motor end of the shaft was somewhat worn. I emailed Dremel and got an overnight reply listing the 2 parts I need and the cost: Coupling is $1.00 and the driver is $1.25. Placed order by phone: 1-800-437-3635. I ordered 2 of each in case future replacement is needed. Total bill came to $7.27 including Florida tax and shipping. Can't beat that. They said it would be in the mail by tonight. (Flex coupling number is 2615294309; spline driver is 2615294308.)

Dremel 395 won't turn on. Was working fine last time I used it, now it is dead. Almost like the it's not getting power, but I have ruled that out.
