Here are some suggestions...

  • Your flash memory may be filled to capacity. Delete the files that you don't need by connecting one end of your USB cable to the USB port on your MP3 player, and the other end to the USB port on your computer. Double click the MP3 player icon on your computer screen (e.g. MP 826/MTP Multimedia Player), which will allow you to view the files programmed in your MP3 player. Highlight the item or items you would like to delete, right-click them and choose "delete" from the drop-down menu. When the computer asks "Are you sure you want to permanently delete this file?", click yes. When you are finish, exit the window and disconnect your USB cable from your MP3 player. The player will automatically turn off and the memory will update your settings when you use your MP3 player again after deleting the file.

  • Try resetting the device. Use a paper clip and gently press the "reset" button, which is located at the bottom of the player. You may lose data, but this is the only way to reuse your product again.

  • Contact tech support by email ( or by phone- (800-727-3592 or 718-416-3197) The hours of operation for the first phone number is 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. EST, and 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for the second phone number.

Hope these suggestions help.

When i turn my rca m4304-a on it says profile required 20mb free space shutting down.. how can i fix it?

We are having the sam eproblem with the asking to free up 20mb. Your solution (The player needs free memory space for building up the playlists: delete the amount of data off the player.

Connect to the computer and backup all the data from the player onto the computer.
Next delete some of the saved data from the player to free at least 20 MB of memory.
All support for the RCA M4304 on next page:..... Does not work for us. When we plug it into the computer all it does is show it usb connected but we cant get into player anymore to delete anything. Please advice

My M4008A Says building data base and then just shuts down

You need to make sure there is at least 50MB of free space on the device for it to build the databse. If you have at least that much space available, then there might be an issue with the firmware that is currently on the device. Sometimes these files get corrupted, simply reflash the firmware to restore them.

Download the firmware update from here:

Follow the instructions to install the firmware on your device. Be sure to back up any important media on your player in case the firmware reinstall erases them.

Profiling requires 4mb free space

Straiten the end of a paperclip and push it into the reset hole on the back. When you turn it on, it should operate as normal without any data loss.
