Door seal can be got direct from GE service center but replacing is best left to a technician. It will cost close to $100 for the seal and if you don't instal it correctly it will tear away again.

Leveling a refridgerator

if not level you need to tip it back and unscrew or screw in the feet on it. use a 2ft level on top to be sure which way to go. if just the door, open door and there is a bracket in between the freezer and fridge and it should be adjustable a little bit. unscrew til lose adjust door to right spot and hold while tightening bolts. that should work. if the fridge door is on top and freezer is on bottom then adjust bracket screws on top of fridge.

Refridgerator door will not seal good

Possible that seal is damaged or worn out or there is heavy dirt accumulation. If so clean with a scrubber and cleaner specially the insides to make the seal gasket flexible to stay closed.

chek door seals- use a dollar bill- place over seal in various spots- close door- bill should be hard to tug out- sounds like a door is out of adjustment and not sealing in a top edge or corner

The refridgerator door won't seal propertly. We

It could be a bad seal or the door could be sprung without seeing it it is hard to tell. Check the hinges make sure door is properly attached. If it appears to be sprung try pulling on the top of door and pushing on bottom to spring it back into place.... Just not too hard.

Refridgerator door sags

Its a two person job. One person has to looses up the two hidges holding the door just slightly while the other person holds the door in place. Once in place tighten the screw/bolts for the hidges back up and check. If not aligned, redo it again until it is aligned and seals properly..
Good Luck!

Help!!!!

Hi,
There is obviously a problem with the defrost cycle.

Are you able to defrost it manualy ?

After cleaning it out and turning on again, set to -18 degrees in the freezer, and +2 in the fridge, and see if the fault continues.
Check the door seals are sealing properly by trying to grip a piece of paper with them. Any loose spots will indicate you need new door seals.
After this, the electric heater element needs testing with a meter set to ohms or continuity. Open circuit is bad - and a new heater is needed.
The other thing to check is the safety-cut out on the heater. This also needs to show continuity. If moisture gets in, it can corrode and fail, check also for a bad connection.
If both these are fine, then it may be a fault on the control board, which can be replaced, but check the cheaper options first.

Thank you for using Fixya.

I get excess frost on things in the freezer of my frost free refridgerator

Hello Monkeyhouse,
I live in a monkey house of my own with two little girls climbing on everything. If your house is like mine the main reason for frost build up is warm moist air entering the freezer. My children love to open the door all the time so I get some frost from that. If you are really getting alot then you may have a crack in your seal around the door. or the door is not sealing completely. To solve the problem you can adjust the door or you can replace the seal. Replacing the seal is really harder than most people would care to tackle. But if you discover a bad spot on the seal this is the best way to replace it. First would be to buy you a seal and start it soaking in hot hot water. This will loosen the rigidity of the seal and help with seating. Once the seal is soft begin removing the old seal. You can do this byraising the inside of the seal and loosening the screws. Do not remove the screws completely just loosen enough to remove and replace a small section at a time. work the new seal around and once you feel it is perfectly centered on all sides tighted the screws. If you still have waves or the door is not sealing you may need to reheat the seal with a hair dryer. Use caution not to burn the seal or overheat the seal.. Over heating will cause it to shrink and it will never work. Good luck to you and please let me know it this helped. MCA0824@aol.com

Fridge

Clean the door seal and ensure that there are no gaps between the sealing surfaces of the door seal and the refrigerator, if there is, relatively warm moist air will continually feed condensible moisture to the cold gap in the seal and the condensed water will drip on the floor. If the door seal its self is broken or torn it will have to be replaced to stop the drip.
Hope this helps.
