Hi,
Probably the power adapter has gone for a toss. Did the adapter fell from a elevated place?
Try changing the power cord it should be working fine

Thanks

There is sort of a universal reset for routers known as 30/30/30.

The trick to this fix is to KEEP HOLDING the reset button in the ENTIRE TIME. Do not release button until ALL steps are done.

Make sure the router is plugged in and ON. Press and hold the reset button in for 30 seconds. UNPLUG from wall (keep holding button in) and wait ANOTHER 30 seconds of hold time. PLUG BACK IN and continue to hold button in ANOTHER 30 seconds. Then release.

The link below is to an article I found on Google, you probably don't need it too, but is included for further clarity.

Tip

Wireless Network Password - Linksys

If you are unable to connect your laptop wireless to your Linksys wireless access point/router, the easiest and fastest way to get going is to reset your router to the factory defaults. This will make your router work like the day you bought it.

There are 2 steps involved Reset your router, Setup/Secure a new router

Reset your router:

First
  • Unplug your DSL/Cable modem from power (not your access point/router) Leave this unplugged for now

Second
  • On the rear of your Linksys router you will find a small RESET button
  • With the power still on the router, Press and hold (with a pin/pen tip) the RESET button for 30 seconds.
  • Release the RESET button a wait 15 seconds for the router to reboot

almost done....
  • Unplug your Linksys router from power
  • Plug your DSL/Cable modem back in to power
  • Wait 1 minute for the modem to boot up
  • Be sure the ethernet (cat5) cable from your modem is securely plugged into the WAN port on the back of your Linksys router. This is usually labeled WAN or Internet above the jack
  • Plug your Linksys router back into power.

You will now be able to connect to the internet with your wireless device. I would advise that you follow the next steps in securing your wireless network.

Setup/Secure a new router

Log into your router
  • Type 192.168.1.1 into your web browser and hit enter
  • In the login fields (case sensitive):
  • Username: leave_this_blank
  • Password: admin
  • Click OK

Once in the web interface for your router
  • Click Wireless tab - Basic Wireless Settings
  • Find the Wireless Network Name (SSID) field
  • change this to your new network name (this is the name you will see when you connect through your wireless device)
  • Find the Wireless Channel field
  • Change this from 6 (default) to 1 or 11

CASCADING / CONNECTING TWO ROUTERS (WRT54G)

To properly connect a second router to a main router that acts as the gateway, follow the steps below.

1. Try to isolate your 2nd router first by disconnecting everything from it and connect a computer to port 1. Make sure that the power cord is plugged in.
2. Reset the router.
HARD RESET- Reset the device to factory default.
1] Press and hold the reset button for 30 sec., after that
2] Unplug the power keep holding down the reset button for another 30 sec.
3] Then, plug back the power keep holding down the reset button for 30sec., after that
4] Release the reset button.
3. From the computer open an Internet Explorer browser and type 192.168.1.1 on the address field. Leave user name blank and type admin on password, you should be at the Setup Page by now.
4. Click on Setup Tab and change the LAN IP/Local IP addresses to 192.168.1.2 then hit apply/Save settings. Note that, it won't go back to the Setup Page, close your browser.
5. Access the new IP address of the through Internet Explorer browser. Type on the address bar http://192.168.1.2. Look for DHCP Server under the Setup Tab. Disable the DHCP then click on apply/Save settings.
6. Shut down the computer and power down the router. Now get a cat5 straight-through Ethernet cable and plug one end to one of the four ports at the back of the secondary router and plug the other end to one of the regular ports on the Main router. Then turn both back on. The 2nd router should be ready to provide connectivity now.

Hello
Reset the router.
1 power down pc and unplug all cables from router including power.
2 Find small reset button inback of router, use a pen tip or paperclip to hold in this button for 30 seconds.
3 Plug power cable back into router.
4 When light is on plug other cables back in.
5 Restart pc.
This should allow you to use 192.168.1.1

Also you can go to start then run in windows and type cmd then hit enter
Once box pops up type in ipconfig then hit enter.
This will show you a list of numbers, look for the one that says ip address, use it to log onto router.

Try pressing the "reset" button. Its a small button on the back, very small you will need a pen or a paperclip to hit it. hold it in for about 30 seconds and you will see the lights reset

I cann't connect to some specific web when using the NetGear router. I never have this problem before. I have try bypass it by connect my internet directly to the modem then the web get in is ok, by when I...

a lot of times its the sequence of the reboot for each device. what happens is, the modem connects to a particular device (computer, router, etc.) and then establishes that connection as a relationship. if you try to plug the ethernet cable into a different device without rebooting the modem, it will never connect. that being said........make all of your connections modem ethernet to router input, then router output to computer ethernet input. then, reboot the modem (with no power plugged into the netgear...its next, just no power yet). once the ready or cable light goes solid and the modem is up, plug the power supply into the router and let it do its thing, then you should see the "i" with a swoosh under it light up, it will be orange for a bit until it connects to the modem, finally turning green. from the router to the computer ethernet.......click your start button on your desktop, click the "run" near the control panel button....a little window pops up down by the start button....type the letters cmd (short for command) and then hit ok button...........black screen for dos pops up with a blinking curser.......type ipconfig then hit enter. the first stages of numbers for the default gateways etc should read close to this 192.168.0.1 (this is the ip of the router). if you see these numbers, you should be able to surf the web. you must do the reboots in the sequence as stated above.. give each interval a minute to do its thing. some newer operating systems need you to physically acknowledge the "new network detected" and select home away office...... so once the reboots and the ipconfig stuff is done but you still cant surf, restart the computer, hopefully when it comes back on it will detect the new network.

I have a new Linksys router, and 192.168.1.1 stopped working. The setup is done, but I wanted to check something, and can't get in.

Hi Friend

please follow the steps

1. Switch on the router.

2. Now at the back of the router push and hold the RESET button for 30 seconds and after that release the button and unplug the power cable form back of the router and wait for another 30 seconds and plug the power cable back.Wait until the power light becomes solid and steady.

3. Connect the computer to the router either of the four ports named 1 2 3 or 4 and the internet wire into the internet or WAN port.
4. Click the start menu and RUN, type cmd and hit enter.

5. In the black box type ipconfig /all and hit enter. Out of those bunch of information please note down the default gateway.

6. Open the internet explorer and in the address bar type that default gateway number. You will get the router page.

7. You can configure as per your requirements now.

Enjoy

2 wire 1000sw

Hi!
Kindly check if you are using the same 2wire power adapter that came originally with the whole package, also try plugging it in another power outlet, like the kitchen or bathroom, & see how long the power light stays on. Plug it straight in the wall socket. If power light keeps going on/off even if you have plugged it in another power outlet, maybe you need to restore this modem back to its default settings. That can be done by doing a hard reset on the modem, push the reset button (found between the ethernet & usb ports), but be sure you have a record of your username & password on your internet account.

Power and status lights off

Sounds like you may have been hit with a power surge. If you've unplugged it and let it sit for a while unpowered, and you've hit the reset button most likely the unit is broken.
