Question about Dell Inspiron 1545 Notebook

1 Answer

Dell insperon 1545. When I press the power button the light comes on, the fan runs for a couple seconds and then shuts off. Doesn't matter on battery or AC. I have removed the hard drive and cd rom drive, same problem. When I remove the memory I get a repeating 2-beeps but it stays powered up. I have tried both memory modules by themselves sill no boot.

Try to use other memory card instead of the one that is previously installed. Problem like that is caused by memory failure.

have a look on the bottom of the case for access panels, remove these and check the fans for dust build up, even if the dust doesn't look too bad, its worth cleaning. Also try to remove the fan to check between that and the heatsink, dust can build up there very much. This could cause the fan to be innefficient so could be an overheating problem causing your shutdown.

Could be loose battery pack.
A bad memory chip would do this as well. Sounds like your not getting power.

Try this,

Unplug it, remove battery, wait couple minutes, press and hold the power button for 5 full long seconds, wait couple minutes more, then put battery back in securely, then plug in, turn back on.

Facing problem with battery of Dell Inspiron 6400

Hi,
1. Shut down the system, remove the battery and the Ac adapter from the computer.
2. Press the power on button for 10 seconds
3. Reinsert the battery
4. Power on the computer and as soon as you see the dell logo press the f2 key a couple of time
5. Using the up down arrow keys , go to the option that says battery info. If there is an error message listed kindly post it back

6. Otherwise shut down the computer reconnect the ac.adapter and check if the problem is solved

Also the battery has a diagnostic lights on it , remove the battery from the computer and press the button on the battery a set of lights would glow. If they are steady and come in a series the battery is good , If some lights are missing the battery is bad and may need replacement

Thanks
Proton
