The navigator seems to turn in once direction (clockwise) and remains in the deep end of the pool. I just changed the flaps and shoes but no difference, Any ideas?

You probably need a new gearbox. These can be bought and installed very easily.

Tighten pods with hex head, if you hold one pod and wiggle the other you should only have 1/4 inch or less of play in each pod.
If you have more play than that then you need to replace the aframe kit to which the pods secure to.
While you are inside also check your bearings

The gearbox could have debris inside it. It can be easily cleaned. Also make sure the screen in the back is free of debris. Make sure the pods are tight and have no play. An easy way to check if the bearings are all in good shape is to simply blow into the water intake on the bottom of the unit. Simply blowing into it should make the pods move (flutter) very easily. If they don't move freely you have a bearing issue.

New navigator stays in deep end 99% of time, comes to shallow end, turns around & goes back to deep end

If your filter is placed toward the deep end of your pool, it could be that the pool cleaners hose is too short to reach the shallow end. You might want to test it and add more hose if necessary. It could also be a steering failure. There are a couple things to check if this is happening. Check and clean the rear screen. Make sure that your cone gear is free and rotates smoothly. You might also need to clean, repair, or replace your gearbox.

Front and rear flaps are not flapping

It is possible that your pool cleaners shoes and/or wings have become worn. If you can see any visible wear and tear, you will need to replace them. If you are referring to the rear tension flap, there is a rear flap adjuster that you will need to loosen.

Only goes counter clockwise

With these pool cleaners, turning in only one direction is most likely the result of a worn shoe or wing. Check them for any wear or tear and replace if necessary. It could also be a partially blocked throat that has restricted suction and is hindering movement. Check and clean your rear screen. Make sure that your cone gear is free and rotates smoothly in all directions. In none of these troubleshooting tips correct the problem, it could be your gear box needing to be replaced.

I have the hayward diver dave and he just wants to go in a straight line

With these automatic pool cleaners, there are several things that could be wrong. Make sure that your shoes are not worn or installed improperly. This could cause it to not be able to change directions or climb. Also check the wings for the same problem and check the rear flap to make sure that it has the correct tension.

Getting plenty of pressure and no debri. The wings do not seem to be flapping so it is not moving forwa

You might need to replace the shoes or the wings. With these automatic pool cleaners, you often have to replace the wings. It is not a hard or expensive thing to do. You will just need to order the replacement parts from Hayward or an autorized dealer.

Why are the paddles not working on pool cleaner?

Your shoes or wings might be worn/broken. If this is the case, they will need to be replaced. Also, you might have improper tension in the rear flap. There is a built in rear flap adjuster on these automatic pool cleaners that you should be able to turn. That will give you the proper tension on the rear flap.

It sounds like it might be a problem with your return pressure. Make sure that you are getting even pressure released on both sides of your automatic pool cleaner. Pick it up while it is on and see if you are getting more pressure on one side. If you are, adjust your valve. If you seem to be getting even pressure, it could be that you did not install the shoes or wings correctly. Check to be sure that both sides are installed properly and evenly.

you may need to replace the gear box assembly that steers the unit. Inspect the turbine bearings and the a-frame bearings, you may need a turbine kit to make it run like new again. Also, check the shoes to make sure they're not worn unevenly or worn too much, they are about 1/2" thick when new.

My navigator seems to stay primarily in the deep end. doesn't seem to be able to get to the shallow end.

Could be several things. If no blockage at inlet hole, feet are in good condition, springs in place and moving freely, etc., I would suggest too little suction. Use the gauge that came with the unit to check for acceptable level. If you don't have that, it will just be trial and error to get it right. Unfortunately, you can't set these once and expect them to remain functional. Suction is always changing depending on filter pressure (blockage), skimmer baskets full, etc..

I would first make sure that your pool cleaners shoes and wings are in good working order. If they are worn or damaged, replacing them should correct the problem. You might also need to check the tension in the rear flap.
