HI! I just received a replacement printer for my old that just broke and it will not come out of "checking device" mode on the printer touch pad. What should only take a few minutes has now been 2 hours! Can you help?

Hello,

Try unplugging the power cable for about 5 minutes and then plug it back in. If the message comes back again then you probably need to have it replaced again because they sent you a lemon.

Thanks,

Pat

I am experiencing the same problem with my new replacement HP 8500A and I find it very frustrating. I have never had such problems with the 3 prior HP printers I have owned. I'm reluctant to call their help desk in India.

Yeah calling tech support in India is never fun, however if power cycling the unit does not help your best bet would be to just get this one replaced again while the warranty is still good.

There might be another way to reset the printer and fix this issue however there is a good chance the error comes back. Even if there is a fix, these companies would rather send you a replacement to avoid bad press then leave you stuck with a possible lemon.

    Thanks,

    Pat

Rpc server is unavailable when installing printer

Hi,
According to the error message, I assume that the spooler service cannot find out the printer on the network.
You may set the startup type of Printer Spooler service to Manual or Delayed Start for a test.
You could go to Customer support- just dial +1(800)243-0051 Toll Free.

Hi!

The problem you described can have multiple causes.

But one is more common:

Every device on your home network (wired or wireless) has its own IP adress. Usualy this IP adress is given automatically by the DHCP server contained in your wireless router. When a device is turned off for some time, it can receive when turned on again another IP adress than before.
So, if your printer has no static IP adress (entered by yourself during printer setup), it is very likely that it has now other IP than the address known by your computer. The computer sends the print jobs to the old adress and of course, nothing is printed.

Please check in your printers proprieties the adress of the TCPIP port assigned tom it, and also check on your router's management site what clients are connected to it.
The network communication between the computer and the printer can be checked by issuing a PING command from a command prompt.
e.g ping 192.168.1.***
the numbers are one example of an IP adress.

Please let me know if it helped, if you need more help ask again, I'll be glad to help you to get the problem solved.

Regards,
Bogdan

Lexmark x5470 the machine received faxes but does not print them. saying "fax jobs in memory"... how do i print them?!?!

It could be because one of your cartridges has low ink level, thus printer is not able to continue printing the fax message. Open the printer cover and replace your cartridges (without navigating away from the fax mode). Once cartridge/s has been replaced, just hit the Check mark to print the fax message.

I've received the error message: "Printer

Mostly, printer cartridge error occurs when the printer head is unable to identify the cartridge properly. And the basic reason behind this is that the cartridge is improperly attached. To reattach the cartridge, turn on the lid of the printer and then remove the cartridge from the printer head. Check the cartridge to make sure that there are no scratches or other damaged parts that can contribute to a printer cartridge error report. Take note that the cartridge should not be left open for more than 30 minutes; otherwise the ink will start to dry up and the cartridge will get clogged.
