I have a Kitchenaid Prestige dryer. model number KEYS677EQO. The lint screen won't slid in more than about 1/3 of the way. It gets caught on the left side. Any suggestions?

Thank you, I will get a brush and try that. I will let you know.

I haven't bought the lint brush yet. My husband tried to clean it out with a thin metal ruler. He doesn't think it is lint because there is a metallic feel to the stoping. It is hard and has no rebound as if it was fiber.

    Thanks

A loose screw inside will need to be tighten down so the screen will go fully in. remove the hold down screws from the top of the screens insert housing and take a flashlight to see were that screw is. some can be tigthen down without tearing the outer dryers panels apart

You need to remove the rear cover and on the left side where the black colored ductwork is there will be a small hose connected to the right side of this duct work and connected to a plastic box, sometimes the hose gets too far into this duct and hinders your putting the lint filter back in,its secured by a "C" clip,if this comes off or breaks the hose may get too far in the ductwork,if this isn't your problem, then try lifting and slightly twisting the lint filter as there may be a small ledge to get over inside the ductwork also...good luck and thank you.....daniel

Clothes get caught

Instructions

1

Remove the lint screen from the GE electric clothes dryer.
2

Roll the lint from the screen with your hand. If the lint screen is clogged with fabric softener, fill a sink with hot water and add 1 to 2 tsp. dish soap.

3

Scrub the lint screen with a soft-bristle brush and soapy water. Rinse the lint screen thoroughly and shake off any excess water. Set the lint screen aside to air dry while you clean the dryer exterior.
4

Dampen a cloth with warm water and wring it out. Wipe over the GE electric dryer exterior to remove any lint, dust or product residue. If the dryer is very dirty, dip the cloth in the soapy water and wipe away any spots.
5

Wipe the GE clothes dryer with a towel to dry. Replace the lint screen when it's completely dry.

How do i open a kitchenaid dryer to inspect drum assembly. its squeaking bad

The way to visually see if the belt has broken or not is to 1) unplug the dryer. 2) Remove the lint screen on the top of the dryer. 3) take the two phillips head screws out where the lint trap is. 4) with a flat head screwdriver pop the top of the dryer up by sliding the driver inbetween the top and front of the dryer and pry upwards a little. 5) You'll now see the drum, if the belt is not around it its broken, and if it's visible try to lift it. If it taught, its good. IF THE BELT IS BROKEN OR LOOSE CONTINUE TO NEXT STEPS 6) on the left and right upper inner sides of the dryer you will find two screws, one on each side, remove these and the front should be easlily remove. 7) once off you'll be able to easily see the motor, the belts idler pulley, and everything else.
If the dryer is a DUET or HE2 or HE3 style, (dryers that match the front loader) then the way you take the top off is a little different. For these machines, there are 3 to 4 screws located on the top back side you'll need to remove, and then the dryer top can be slid back and removed

Model 87577800 sock went thru the lint vent

The model number you have listed has the dryer vent on top of the dryer. Small items commonly fall down into the vent chute on these dryers. Articles can easily be retrieved by following these steps:

1. UNPLUG the dryer. Dangerous voltage is still present inside a dryer even when it is turned off.

2. Remove the lint screen and remove the two screws that connect the vent chute to the top panel.

3. Turn the dryer around so you can access the rear, and remove the exhaust vent hose.

4. Locate and loosen all the screws from the perimeter of the dryer back panel.

5. Remove the back panel of the dryer.

The air blower assembly and dryer vent chute are located on the left hand side (as viewed from the rear of the dryer). Remove the screws that hold the vent chute in place and you will be able to access anything that has fallen into it.

NOTE: Anything left in the vent can eventually get caught in the blower fan. So, it is important to retrieve anything caught in this area to prevent damage to the fan and to ensure the dryer ventilates properly.

If you have any questions about these procedures, please let me know. I hope this helps you.
