Question about ASUS Eee PC 1000HE Netbook

2 Answers

How to dissemble an ASUS PC 1000 HE. I need to replace the fan. I tried to disasemble the unit but was a no go Now the two screws directly on either side of the battery will no longer stay in. The fan makes a racket and ASUS has been hopeless in helping. They claim they don't even have the PN# of the fan. Thanks Wally wgordon1@att.net

But I can no longer get the screws that are in either side of the Battery (as seen from the the bottom) to screw in and stay in. They just fall out. I never over tightened anything so I can't see how those screws appear to be stripped out. I need to disassemble this thing, and find the fan number and put it on order. Then I have to figure out why the two screws on either side of the Battery will no longer thread in.
    Thanks, Wally

Hey,

So there are hidden screws that hold the casing together under the keyboard, after you have removed all the screws from the bottom, the keyboard is held in place with plastic clips on the top of the keyboard that you can see if you look closely you need to push those in one by one so that the keyboard comes off.

See this guide I wrote for 900
http://www.fixya.com/support/r4275639-replace_keyboard_asus_eee_pc_900

won't be much different on yours.

Now that you got the keyboard off you see new screws that are holding the casing together.

Unscrew all the screws and I beleive you also have to unscrew the LCD display from the Bottom of the laptop, you don't have to take apart the screen but you need to remove the screen from the bottom part of the machine, unscrew all screws in that area but there is no need to unscrew the cover of the lcd.

Once you got the display out and all the screws are out, the casing will be held in place with plastic clips, go over all the sides with your fingernails or a plastic stick to get the casing to come apart.

finally you get the whole machine apart.

you can then remove the fan and put in another.

put back together in reverse order, shouldn't be hard.

let me know if you have questions.

Theres either plastic or a metal part holds the screw in, if its plastic, it breaks easilty, if its a metal part then its loose somewhere in the machine, but that metal part would be held in place with plastic and if that plastic is gone it won't stay there you would have to glue the metal part into the plastic.

It sounds like its very likely that you won't be able to put those screws back in anymore.

Replace fan on gigabyte u2442

These worked great on my u2442f. You will need to order 2 of them:
http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Free-shipping-DC-5V-0-29A-Cooling-Fan-For-ASUS-Eee-PC-UL30V-UL30A-1201T-1201N/1859310048.html

Check out some youtube videos on opening up the unit; hidden screws under the gripper pads, etc. The fans are easy to remove and install, simple screws and a cable. But, I think one side did require unseating another cable to get to the fan.

It can be done!

How to replace battery in the Schiller AT-2 light EKG machine

The battery in the Schiller AT2 is as 12 volt 2.2 AH battery commonly available from R&d batteries, there part number is 5515. To replace it requires disasemble of the unit. Note that you should never disasemble this unit while it is plugged in. Also there are several cable that attach teh top housing to the PC board, and if you are not dillagent about not pulling these vcables apart while disasembling the unit, you can do expensive damage. Bearing that in mind, I would proceed as follows:Turn the unit upside down on top of a towed or other soft surcace to prevent scratching the soft plastic of the upper housing. around the perimeter of the case you will see several screws, i think 8 if i remember correctly. Repmove them and place them in a cup or other container. Grip the top and bottem cases together firmly and flip teh unit back upright. GENTLY lift up the top housing, and VERY CAREFULLY slide it about 3 or so inches to the left. This will expose the battery. just lift it out and replace it with the new one.Take care to reconnect the wires in the same position as teh original battery. Mis wiring the battery will cost you hundreds of dollars. The wires connect via slide on spade connectors. grip them by the connector itself(not the wire going into it) and gently rock it side to side while pulling, it will eventually come off the battery terminal. Resemble the unit in the reverse order. Plug the unit in and fully check it prior to re-installing the screws in the bottom of the unit in case you pulled a cable loose. As an alternative, you can detach the cables from the pc board and place the top cover to the side while replacing the battery, but be VERY careful with the cables. I recommend that you have a qualified individual preform this replacement for you. the cove being removed exposes high voltage, and also presents the risk of expensive damage to your unit.

Flickering horizontal lines across monitor screen

Do you have the monitor plugged into a power strip. If so unplug it and plug it directly into the wall.

Rattling from power box fan

Usually if you are getting a rattling noise from the fan area, it means the bearings are worn out on the fan motor. The fan is located in the power supply and is fairly easy to replace. Just make sure that you disconnect the power from the unit before you attempt a repair. You should be able to find a fan from CDW or Tiger Direct. Anyone handy with tools should be able to effect a repair.

My computer constantly freezes on random occasions. I think it has something to do with my mother board witch is a ASUS K8V Deluxe

Is it the fan attached to the inside on the back?
That is the chassis fan that is not spinning. You need to replace it because the unit needs that additional cooling. It is easy to replace (4 screws). Your local computer store should carry it.
Don't let the PC freeze too much longer, it may cause major problems.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe
