Having problem on starting sharp aquos LC-37G4U. When I switch on, the GREEN light appears on both TV & AVC. After few sec, i hear couple of clicks in AVC then the lights go on to RED. When I press Power On, it behaves similar ( finally gets on to RED ).

Similar incident happened earlier, but worked after reconnecting. I suspect, its some quick fix rather than some parts damaged. Request for some help

Could you pls help me where I should be looking for these bad capacitors etc. Would it be in LCD TV or the AVC system. I have power supply for both where as the Cable, DVD etc connection goes to AVC System. The AVC is connected through bus to the LCD TV. Request you to provide step by step details for me to verify

From your description it seems like you are facing the infamous "Protection fault". It usually occurs in the power supply board of the tv when a vital component(such as a resistor, voltage regulator IC etc.,) that should regulate the flow of voltage in a particular circuit fails there by allowing more than the max voltage. As a result the set turns itself off to prevent further damage to its components and the power LED turns red. A component level repair is possible, but if you wanna do it yourself, you should have the know-how of electronic circuits and working on them i.e, using a multimeter, knowing what components hold residual voltages etc., If you do not have these skills then its highly recommended that you seek the assistance of a qualified tv tech, to fix it for you. If you are located in the US then please get me your zipcode so that I can get you a list of techs in your area.

Well if the protection circuits, worked correctly to block the surge, you can get it back to working state by unplugging, wait for 5 min and plug it back in. You can give it a shot and see if it works.

I can't play movies on my tv

Okay, this monitor setup is a little strange. There is an "AVC" component with this monitor that you use to connect everything. There is a 4 cable string (power, s-video, DVI, display port) that connects the AVC unit to the monitor. You must have all external equipment connected to the AVC unit, not to the TV itself. The connections on the TV talk to the AVC unit. I will assume you will be connecting the Blu-ray player via HDMI. HDMI is on input 4 on the back of the AVC unit. hit the input button on the remote or the TV and select input 4. There is a way of customizing the inputs to read out what you have connected to them (ex. DVD, VHS, etc.) to make it easier to use. This should get you signal from your blu-ray
