SOURCE: Picture gone on an LG 42pc1dv-ec plasma. Sound OK,

Your Vs voltage is high, check if the heatsinks on the Z-sustain board are getting hot after a short time, if so replace the Z-sustain board. If not, dis-connect the Vs & Va plug connection to the Y-sustain & check if the voltages are normal (185V & 80V). If they are then your fault will be in the Y-sustain board. There is a possibility the control board (sits below the power supply) could also be a problem as it is not able to initiate the control to the sustain boards.

SOURCE: LG 42PX4MVH PLASMA TV - Sound but no picture.

I have the same issue with my LG 42PC3DVA and I narrowed it down to the Y SUS board. After a little research there are a few items that are prone to go. The ceramic fuses (as you found), sometimes the capacitors on the Y SUS, Z SUS, and power supply go along with them You can tell because thy will be bulged at the top instead of flat. I replaced a few of my capacitors - they are only $0.89 each so it was MUCH cheaper than a board.

The other thing that is common on the Y SUS in particular are the FETs (also called MOSFET). They can be replaced if you are good with a soldering gun but they are static sensitive so be grounded. They are also a bit tricky to test so you may want to do some research on how to determine if this is the issue... or you can just replace the whole board.

SOURCE: 42" LG Plasma tv, no picture - black screen, but have sound.

Most a likely a problem with your Y-Sustain board which will then not drive the screen giving a black picture. The fuse on the board may be open circuit & need replaced but most likely you will need to have the sustain board replaced.

SOURCE: LG PDP42X3 No Picture - I have sound and blue

This condition, sound no picture, is generally a result from a failed y-sustain and/or x-sustain board. You can check the fuse for continuity or resistance using a multimeter. I am helping someone repair their LG 42pc3d, that's why I thought I'd help you out too.

Replaced digitizer now black screen only

If the LCD was working before replacement, the most likely suspect is a loose cable connection. It is also easy to crimp those tiny flat cables, or to break the locking mechanism so the cable can work its way loose. Sounds like you booted to a black screen after repair, so I would walk back through it and double check every connection, then look at all cables closely in bright light and with a magnifying glass, to be sure nothing sustained damage (twist, crimp, etc.). Remember to check the power cable to the LCD, as well. No power, no backlight, no video.

Plasma TV has a black uneven splotch in the middle of the screen

hmmm. sounds like the screen might be damaged. You might have to get a new one. But before you do that I would try leaving it off for a while maybe a few hours or so and see if that helps.

Dell monitor screen suddenly went white. Can it be fixed?

I have a strong suspicion that you have burned a capacitor or two on the monitor. You will need to bring this in to have it serviced as it will require the monitor to be opened up and new capacitors replaced/resoldered.

the loud crack sound you heard may be due to a capacitor exploding, look for phisical damage and replace the component with and equal or better component of the same value,,,good luck

Hi.
This is a common problem with flay screen tv's.
What is happening is that one or more of the capacitors in your tv are either on the verge of going out, or have went out.
Capacitors act like a jump start, giving a large rush of power all at once to the tv, energizing the screen so that it will properly display the images.
Yours is going slow because most likely one of those are damaged, kinda like an exploded battery.
It might hold SOME charge, but not the full amount, and it won't discharge it's load as properly as a good capacitor would.
First, I would look at the power supply, where the cord plugs into the tv.
Start at that point, and look for bulging, split, cracked, blown, or exploded, yes, exploded capacitors.
If the capacitors are shot, they will almost always leak the capacitance gel inside, it will look wet around the capacitor that's affected.

Also, look at the circuit boards, to see if there are any unusual burn spots, as these also are a good indication of failed components.

The damaged capacitors can be just about anywhere on the circuits, not just by the power supply, you will probably have to look on the main circuit board as well as the convergence circuit.

Just remember to watch out, the capacitors that are still good may have a significant residual charge left in them.

I hope this helps you to find out what is wrong.

Black screen on a 20ls7d LCD TV

I work at CNN Have had 6 of these monitors go out in as many months. Take out the power supply and change the 2 exploded 680u capacitors. They're being overheated by the underrated MOSFETs on the reverse side of the board. I'm looking for some substitute MOSFETs that handle power better; but replacing the caps will usually fix the problem. Otherwise replace the supply.

Read replace lamp then afew weeks later heard pop noise and now black screen

Two things in your TV can make that popping sound. One is the bulb of course and the other is a capacitor. Have you pulled out the bulb to inspect it? My guess is that you have broken glass in the cooling fan, which is why there is a grinding sound. Most bulbs tend to contain the glass from getting everywhere as it's only the filament inside that pops creating little diamond looking pieces inside the lens. If a surge was strong enough or if the bulb was poorly manufactured, the whole unit can explode inside spraying glass everywhere.

If the bulb looks fine, the pop must've been a capacitor on one of your circuit boards resulting in no display. Since the TV still powers on, your power supply and it's fuse appear to be fine. Check the bulb first and go from there.
