EE8 is the code for combustion blower failure. I'm not sure which fan you checked. You can't see the combustion blower fan. It is inside the black plastic cover on the back side of the heater near the bottom. You can see the motor for it from inside the heater. The blower has a sensor to determine fan speed to control the amount of airflow to the burner. There could be a problem with the sensor. When you turn the heater on the first thing you should hear is the combustion blower start up and run. On the smaller heaters they are very quiet and sometimes hard to hear. Start the heater and see if the blower starts. If it doesn't remove the front cover and locate the blower motor so you can check the wires going to it. I have seen wires that mice have chewed off. Otherwise you may need a need blower motor. If it is running then the sensor is possibly bad and you would also need a new blower motor. Also make sure the exhaust pipe isn't blocked since you say the house smells like diesel. Let me know what you find. nitensheaterservice@earthlink.net

Toyostove Laser 73 has EE8 code after we had an electrical outage. The blower fan is not stuck. Could the loss of power damage the fan motorr? Where do we purchase a new fan motor?

Probably wasn't so much the loss of electric power, as it was perhaps, a surge when it came back on that could have damaged the fan motor
.
You should be able purchase a new fan motor from the dealer your bought the heater from. Or if that's not an option, go to http://www.rinnai.us/ and search for a authorized dealer close to you. That way, you can be sure you're getting an OEM part.

Hope this helps resolve your problem.

It saying ee8 blower on da laser 73

EE-8 is for a blower motor malfunction. It could be due to carbon build up on the exhaust fan blades. Remove the front cover of the heater. Now locate the blower. There is a black rubber boot that goes from the bottom of the heater to the blower. Remove that boot. Use your finger or a pencil or whatever to reach in the hole and turn the fan blades. You may here a crunching sound from the carbon breaking up. Turn it until it frees up. If it turned freely to start with, you probably need a new blower motor. If it was hard to turn and you free it up, you will probably be OK.Let me know what you find. I have a used blower for a Laser 72 that should work for your Laser 73.

It saying ee8 blower

EE8 is for blower motor malfunction. It could be the motor, bearings or the speed sensor.First I would either remove the exhaust pipe from the back of the heater or take the front cover off of the heater and remove the black rubber boot from the fan (easiest). Then use a pencil or screwdriver or something similar to reach into the fan and try to turn it. Carbon builds up on the exhaust fan over time and may cause the fan to stick. Turning may break the carbon loose and free up the fan. If that doesn't get it, you are probably going to need a new blower motor.

Toyo laser 73 error code EE8. What does that mean?

All error codes are explained on the lower left side of the heater. The EE8 message is for the combustion blower motor. If your stove has been unused for the summer you may get away with just spinning the blower wheel by hand to free it up. If this does not work you are in for a new motor or assembly. Either way you need to clean the blower and heat exchanger.

My laser 73 heater has an error of ee8

Hello
An ee8 message refers to the combustion Blower motor
Unplug unit
Take off front cover
There is a rubber hose from blower case to the base of the unit
Take it off carefuly
Use your finger or a Pencil to try to move the intake fan
Resemble unit
If this doesn't work you may have to replace Blower motor or just clean it up.
If you can't figure it out gimmie a call Total Toyo (907) 488-9179

We just got oil after not using our toyo stove since last Summer. when I turned it on and push the on button it flashes 12:00 then a second push of on button briefly shows temp then goes to EE8, I can't...

Ok so I bought a L 73 model two years ago and today I had fuel delivered in prep for the winter. When I turned the Toyo on it waited about 5 minutes before giving me an EE 08 error message. The manual showed blower motor trouble and I was bummed so I called a friend. He gave me the following information he learned from a Toyo dealer as a "temp" fix until a more thorough cleaning can take place. Apparently stuff (crusties, ash and burnt debris) have a tendency to build up around the blower motor fan which causes it to get stuck. This is not the large visible fan on the back, but the smaller internal one. There is a rubberized hose leading to the larger fan and a smaller flexible stainless exhaust next to it, which is the one I was told to remove. Once you remove the flexible exhaust get a flashlight and look into the back and you'll see the fan (or only about the 1/3 of it which is visible). Take a pencil eraser and gently remove the build up between the exhaust slats. I also used my craftsman shop vac which fit nicely right over the hole to remove the debris. Once you have all the soot, crusties and stuff removed the fan should be spinning at warp speed when you remove the shop vac. This took my literally about 10 minutes to disconnect, clean and reconnect. About 8-10 minutes later the unit was working great! Hope this helps anyone having similar problems.

Toyo laser 30 smokes and smell like unburned fuel when it ignites

If you just changed gaskets on your heater it is normal for it smoke a little bit when you first restart it. It should go away after a while though. If you smell unburned fuel you have a leak somewhere, or a spill. Check all your fuel line connections in the house. The back of the heater where the line connects, the firestop valve (the valve behind the pump that opens or closes the flow of fuel), and any connections in there behind the pump/fuel resevior. (sp) Check that they are tight. What has also happened to me is fuel has spilt and ended up along the back edge of the stove. you might be able to be crafty and unscrew all the screws at the bottom, to try to clean that up. It doesn't take much of a spill to create a very pungeant diesel smell.

Try cleaning the fan blades, etc. Does the blower stop after a while and not start again? If there is no ignite at all, could you need to clean your stove. Especially the heat pot?

Remove the front panel. Look for the "L" shaped rubber hose near the bottom that goes to the metal blower box. Remove the end of the hose at the blower box. Inside the opening you can see the blower fan blades. Using a pencil or other slim object, gently rotate the fan while the power is on. The blower should start on its own after you get it going. Let the blower run a few minutes to loosen itself up. Replace the hose and front panel. The blower fan tends to stick if the unit is turned off for long periods of time, such as from Spring until Fall. My Laser 73 blower sticks almost every year and I cure the problem doing the above procedure. HTH
