Question about Uniden TRU8866 Cordless Phone

Open Question

I have Uniden tru8866 and 2 phone lines. this set has been working perfectly for the past 2 years but now Line 2 has no dialtone. When i plug into the Line 1/2 port on the Uniden base station, i only get dialtone on Line 1. When I plug into the Line 2 port on the base station, i get dialtone on Line 2. Phone company has tested both lines and I can get dialtone on both using a corded 2-line phone. I've unplugged power from the base and plugged it back in but nothing seems to resolve this issue. Any ideas?

SOURCE: Uniden handset TCX905 with base unit TRU8866-if compatible?

Forget what I said before, the TCX905 does NOT fit into the TRU 8866 base unit with the battery cover on.

REMOVE THE BATTERY COVER TO REGISTER THE TCX905 WITH THE TRU8866 and everything works fine....

SOURCE: Dialtone problem

This sounds like a radio transmiting problem. This problem shows up first as "choppy transmit" where custimers complane of you sounding choppy or "under water". Google "KX-TGA400B choppy transmit" to find out more.

SOURCE: No dial tone, just buzzing noise - should be 2 line phone, 1 jack

What you need is a dsl filter since you are working off a splitter. You can usually get these for free from your phone company.

My phone says parallel set on how i fix it

I assume you cannot get dial tone on your Vtech handsets or base unit. The phone is telling you that another phone or device has seized the line, therefore it cannot give you dialtone. You could have another phone or device(fax, modem, etc.) off hook or you could have trouble on the line caused by bad wiring, faulty line cord, or bad outlets. To find the trouble, you need to remove all devices from all outlets and try to isolate the bad wiring, line cord or outlet by connecting a standard good phone to one outlet at a time using a known good line cord. If you are unable to isolate the trouble using this method, try going to the outside interface box and testing the line there. Inside the outside interface box there is normally a test jack with a short line cord plugged into it, unplug the test jack and plug your standard phone into the test jack. If you don't get good dialtone then the trouble is with the service provider and you need to report it to your service provider. If you do get good dial tone then the trouble is in the building wiring, outlets or phone devices. Typically there is more than one pair of feed wires from the interface box to the building outlets. Remove all but one pair, then go inside and check all outlets for dialtone(plug standard phone into each outlet one at a time) to find which are connected to the pair of wires that are still connected at the interface box. If you find trouble on this feed wire( can't get dialtone at any of the outlets), remove it at the interface box and connect a different pair of feed wires, go inside and test all outlets again. If a feed wire tests good(you get dialtone on at least one outlet) then do not remove that feed wire at the interface box and just add the next one at the connection terminals in the interface box then retest your outlets again. Work your way through all of the feed wires and outlets in this manner to isolate where the trouble is. A bad wire, line cord, outlet or phone can produce a short or partial short across the telephone wire pair that will appear to your Vtech phone as if a parallel set is in use. It can sometimes take quite an effort to locate a bad wire or outlet. Good luck.

Intellifax 4750e phone and fax line stays open, no dial tone

Is the fax machine on? (Are the lights or screen lit up?) Make sure that the line going from the fax machine to the wall jack is plugged into the LINE port on the fax machine, and not the TEL port.

Try plugging a regular phone into the wall jack where the fax machine is currently plugged in... do you get a dialtone? If so, the problem is either with the fax machine or the way it is configured.

My phone says check Tel Line

Sounds like your telephone line might be dead. If you have a gray or tan telephone box on the outside of your house you can plug your phone in there to test the line. If you get dialtone then thrers a problem in your house wiring, if you don't get dial tone then the line is dead and you need to conact your telco provider.

Hello, I have the Panasonic Cordless Phones, model # KX-TGA431CB. There are 2 phones and two bases. I cannot place a call from any of the phones and as far as I know, I am not receiving calls from them...

Sounds like it is not detecting any dialtone, can you find a regular corded phone and plug your line cord that is going into the cordless into it. See if you hear dialtone here.

My Uniden wireless phone doesn't have a dial tone,

I would be willing to bet that it's the line cord that is plugged into your phone's base unit. Try a different cord, and/or try it on a different jack.

If it's neither of these, see if any phone you have gets dialtone. If no phone gets DT, contact your service provider. If other phones work, and the new cord didn't fix your Uniden, then chances are that the jack has been ripped from the circuitry. If that's the case,
contact us at IdacomUSA and we'll be glad to set you up properly.
