We hooked up the converterbox and antenna, tried to play a dvd, the player said it was playing but there was nothing on the tv screen and no sound. We then tried to play a vhs movie and there was nothing on the screen either. do we need to but another type of converter to use along with the Insignia box? (It's getting expensive!)

The digital box has to hooked up the rca plugs on the bac of the vcr if you want to use the vcr (you will only be able to pick up channels throught input and the box will have be set on the channel you want to record. You need a switch to hook the vcr and dvd player both up. the atenna cord can be attached to the back of the convertor box then attached to the tv.

Just connect the PS3 it also works as a DVD player. Do you really need a VCR player? You can get a converter box to stream the VCR footage through the DVD player/ PS3

Connect tv vcr and dvd player to digital converter box

Yes you can first connect the converter box to the antenna first. Next hook the tv out on converter box to vcr in on vcr. Next hook the vcr out to the tv in and watch vcr and converter box on channel 3 sometimes channel 4.on the actual tv and of course change channels with converter box remote. For dvd player hook it straight to tv with red, white, and yellow cables that come with your dvd player. Then to watch dvd player if it's hooked up that way you have to put your tv on a input like video 1 or input 1. This can be done by using the tv remote and looking for a button that says tv/video or input or source button. This is some common names for that button on tv remotes.

Magnavox DVD/VCR Dual

Usually a cable box has a RF (antenna connect) IN (from the external signal) OUT (cable going to the TV_RF in)
Usually one has to place TV_channel on 3 or 6 (my TV ch. 60).
EXTERNAL signal goes in CABLE box RF_in, CABLE box RF_out to the TV (RF_in).
In order to connect DVD/VCR, [IN LINE with cable & TV] just connect the RF_out from CABLE BOX into the RF_in of the DVD/VCR, RF_out of DVD/VCR to the TV RF_in.

How to connect my dvd & vcr with the converter box

Here is my setup.
1) Separate DVD player 2) Separate VCR 3) Digital to Analog Converter box 4) Analog TV 5) Rabbit ears (UHF/VHF) antenna
The antenna goes into the converter box.   The RF-output of the converter goes into the RF-Input of the VCR The DVD output goes into the front input jacks of the VCR The VCR RF-output goes into the TV RF-Input The VCR Line output goes into the front of the TV
To watch DVDs, we turn on the DVD player, turn on the VCR, and set the VCR channel to L2, and tune the TV to channel 3.  The converter is off.
To auto record on the VCR, the converter must be tuned to the station being recorded.  The converted must be turned on, the TV can be off.
To watch VCR tapes, turn the TV and VCR on.  The TV is set to channel 3.  Just press play on the VCR.
To Watch TV.   Turn the TV and converter on.  The TV is set to channel 3.   Change the stations using the converter.

"Sounds" correct to me.  Are you going by the instructions that came with the converter box?  And, "ANT In" to the box from your antenna?
