Describe the noise. If its a rattling banging noise you could have a broken exhaust fan which is usually attached to the motor, a broken cylinder roller (if your dryer has them) or worn felts. Maybe a noisy pulley. If its more a high pitched squeek it could be your motor or the parts just mentioned. A metal scraping noise could be something like a bra wire caught by the cylinder but I don't see how that can get louder as the rotates. Make sure the belt isn't cracked all over. Worst case scenario is that your motor is on its way out...
Good luck
he belt tensioner has a roller with a bearing in the middle of it. that is your squeaking problem on every revolution it turns replace the roller and belt sold as a kit at SEARS
I normally don't work on gas dryers but it sounds like the drum rollers are in need of lubrication.
Check your drum rollers for flat spots or wear, if they have flat spots or wear on them replace them.
If the drum rollers don't have flat spots or wear on them then they probably only need lubrication. Lubricate the shaft of the rollers with a good grade of machine oil such as 3 in One oil. Reassemble the dryer, plug back in. This should solve your noise problem.

it sounds like a drum support roller is going bad or the belt idler pulley. i think maytag has a kick panel on the bottom that can be removed. look inside with a flashlight and you may be able to see something. if not, you may have to take the drum out to get a really good look. make a note and study how the drive belt serpentines around the motor, pulley, and drum so you can get it back together.
More than likely it is the belt. A simple fix is to spray some belt dressing on the belt. However, changing the belt would be the best solution. Good luck.
Goto the site www.TvRepairKits.com and get their "chirping" TV repair kit. It will fix the problem of the dead set with high pitch sound or chirping sound.
