Question about Troy-Bilt 31cc 2-Cycle Gas Powered Blower/Vacuum #TB320BV

1 Answer

There is no spark. I've replaced the plug, and when I hold the metal threads of the plug against the cylinder housing and pull the starter cord, there is nothing. The spark plug wire goes into a sealed module, so there is no way to check it as far as I can tell. I removed one wire lead from teh kill switch just in case it had failed "shorted" but that did not change anything.

I have a 2004 popular gas blower but can't get it to start an how would I make adjustments if needed as far as carburetor?

I would start by taking the spark plug out. Is it wet? Should be dry with a little black soot on it. Put the wire back on it and hold the threads against the cylinder head. Hold this by the rubber spark plug boot. Pull the cord and see if you see spark. Next take out the air cleaner and make sure it is clean.

Will not start, no spark

try this test. take off the spark plug cap ( they unscrew ) snip a small piece off the ht lead ( as the metal inside will be chewed from the thread of the cap ) with a new cut hold the lead against any metal near it ( the cylinder head etc ) and pull it over. you should see a spark from the lead ? if you do you can replace the cap ( it will have new wire to screw into now ) and try fro spark at plug ( no spark new plug needed ) ..if you get no spark from the ht lead unscrew it from the coil and try a new lead

Homelite hlt25cs, pull starter cord, wont engage starter clutch, cant find how to access it

hello sir, ryobi trimmers and other models removal of the bell housing, removal of the metal bell housing,or clutch drum, on models 780R & 790R, here is what you do. after removing the trimmer & shaft assembly.remove the spark plug insert a screwdriver in the cylinder to keep piston from moveing. to remove the bell housing twist off the spring and using a T20 TORX screwdriver unscrew the retaining screw in the center of the bell housing (normal r/h thread) . push down firmely try not to strip screw head . you should be able to remove clutch housing.remove clutch using a pair of channel locks, works for me, (normal r/h thread) you should be able to remove front engine cover to repair what you need to.coil, pull stsrt, hope this works,. this solution applies to all trimmers with clutch removal~~~hope this helps,,any comments welcome, thank you. ``

Getting to much gas in the cylinder . wont start

Flush out the cylinder by running it with choke off, leave for 5 minutes then try to start again with choke on.
Check that the air filter isn't dirty as this can cause too much fuel to be sucked in through the carburettor.
Ensure that you have a spark by removing plug and holding body of plug against the metal of chainsaw body while pulling starter rope. This can be awkward and possibly risky. Ideally you should do this with fuel removed from the tank and allow the gas to evaporate from the cylinder. You also have to think of how to keep the spark plug against the chainsaw as it will bounce about while pulling the cord.

My 5700 watt 11 HP McCullough generator wont start. I'm getting good gas to the plug but no spark.

The spark coil is bad if you have no spark

Small engine repair. Part is expensive.

Have you checked spark for sure?
1) Spray WD-40 directly into carburetor
If machine has spark, it will fire
2) Is exhaust port clogged with carbon and dirt?
3) Get new spark plug
Pull out old spark plug
Put spark wire on plug
Hold spark plug wire with fingers
Put spark plug threads against metal opening where spark plug came out.
Metal to metal
Pull cord or push starter
Look for spark between metal

No spark, then spark coil is bad.

First check for spark. Remove the spark plug. Leave the spark wire connected. Hold the plug against the metal of the mower engine so you have a ground and can see the gap of the electrode where the spark jumps across. Have someone pull the starter cord and verify that you have a spark. Hold it by the threads of the plug so you don't get a little spark jolt yourself.

go to an auto parts store and get a can of starter spray (it's actually ether), Remove the lawnmower spark plug and spray a little ether in the plug hole. Put the plug back and tighten it and see if it starts.
It will probably start, run for 5 or 10 seconds and then die. Repeat this procedure once or twice again and eventually it will start to draw gas from the lawnmower tank.

A seasonal tip. when you put the mower up for the winter, **** the remaining gas out of the tank, start the engine and let it run until it uses up the gas in the carburetor. This will make iot much easier to start in the spring

Hope this helps Good Luck Loringh PS Please give me a rating
