SOURCE: breeze ceiling fan not working

We have a 52" Aloha Breeze fan that stopped working this evening - fan and light. The remote control was burning up - after reading the other posts I hate to see what else is burning! Sounds like it would be safer to buy a new, reputable fan than spend more money on replacement parts.

I have a electric dryer Model WED5810SW0 THAT I WAS TOLD I COULD CONVERT TO 120V from 240v is this true and if so how do i do this?

If you consider doing this the first thing is SHUT THE MAIN BREAKER OFF. Use an auxiliary light source to see when working in a dead panel. Always keep in mind an ARC FLASH ACROSS HOT MAINS HAS ENOUGH HEAT TO PEAL THE SKIN OFF OF YOU. Before an explanation of how to do it you should keep in mind that this is for a single receptacle only. If any other receptacles are on the same circuit they will also be changed to 240 volt receptacles and if you plug any 120 volt device into them, the 120 volt device will be destroyed. That said OK, any 120 volt outlet can be changed to 240 volt by removing the 120 volt circuits neutral, re identifying the white wire with red or black phase tape and connecting it to a new 2 pole 15 amp breaker. The maximum that this circuit will now load up to is, on #14 wire at 80% = 12 amps at 240 volts. The 120V receptacle must be changed to a 15A - 240V receptacle so that 120 volt devices can not be plugged into it. Never use 2 single pole breakers together because code requires that on a fault trip both legs of the 240V circuit must be disconnected simultaneously. Voltage converter buying guide. Voltage Transformer Buying guide.Voltage converters also known as voltage transformers are devices that convert foreign electricity to power devices from different parts of the world. A step down voltage converter is a 220 to 110 volts converter. A step up converter is a 110 volts to 220 volts converter. Our 2-way converters are voltage transformers that convert power from both 220 to 110 volts and 110 to 220 volts. They also work with 100 volts, 110 volts, 120 volts, 220 volts and 240 volts. My country use the 220 volts system do have to use a step down transformer of plug it in direct.it has been a year i have not used the appliance having no information on wattage

If your microwave is wired for 220 volts AC and your country standard house current is 220, and the plug is of the proper configuration, plug it in.

Standard microwave size is around 1100 watts at 110 volts Normally, two times the voltage is 1/2 the wattage. Ohms law, Voltares Law and Watts Law apply.

If your microwave is 1100 watts at 110 volts --- yes you will need a step- down transformer of some type.

What will the size wire will i need to wire up to consumer unit

It depends on if you are running a 220 or 110 volt supply. Assuming that your supply is 110 volt and your microwave draws about 2000 watts, that would mean that you need a wire with a cross section of about 2.5 sq, mm to allow a safety margin. If your mains are 220 volts you can use 2 sq mm or a little less - say 1.5 sq mm to be on the safe side. (On 220 volts a microwave draws aprox. 2 amps for every 200 wats output and 1 sq mm wire can carry 10 amps - as a rule of thumb. At 110 volts these figures are roughly double).

Trying to connect a ceiling fan light kit. I connected the blue wire from the fan kit to the black wire in the light kit and then connected the white wire from the fan kit to the white wire in the light...

Those connections sound OK ,, now you have to go to the canopy and see if all the wires for the fan/light are connected to a house wire. If there are two switches , then the blue fan wire would connect to the red wire .. it may be capped off in the ceiling. If there is only one control switch , then the blue wire from the fan will connect to the same ceiling wire as the black fan wire does.

Just installed new steam shower, it produces steam for about 5 minutes and then blows the fuse

Based from your comments, a new steam shower that blows the fuse in five minutes. You could have installed a new steam shower that is much bigger than what you previously have.
1. For a 5000 watts steam shower at 220 volts
power must have a fuse rating of 40 amps, supply
wires of at least No. 6 AWG Type THW ; and at
110 volts a fuse rating of 80Amps, supply wires
of at least No. 2 AWG type THW.
2. For a 4000 watts at 220 volts, Fuse: 30 amps,
Supply wire: No. 10 AWG type THW. At 110volts
60 amps, Supply wires : No. 4 AWG Type THW
3. For a 3000 watts at 220 volts, Fuse: 20 amps
Supply wire: No. 10 AWG type THW; At 110volts
Fuse: 40 amps, Supply wire: No. 6 AWG THW
4. For a 2000 watts at 220 volts, Fuse: 15 amps
Supply wire: No. 10 AWG THW and at 110 volts
Fuse: 30 amps, Supply wire: No, 8 AWG THW

Trying to uninstall a Nutone 8663NLP ceiling fan/light. Seems to be attached to joist on one side. Can't seem to budge. How to do it?

Hi, Yes the fan box enclosure is either nailed or screwed to the joist on one end. Typically, the enclosure has a couple (2) mounting tabs that extend past the ends of the metal box about 1 inches. That is where the fasteners (either nails or screws) that mount the box to the joist.

The easiest way to get the fan off, without tearing up the ceiling drywall, etc. is to use either a hacksaw blade in a handle that lets you extend the blade past the tool so you can saw through the fasteners on each side.

The other option is to use a Reciprocating electric saw (Sawzall type) with a bi-metal blade to do the same thing, cut through the fasteners.

My advice for both ways to cut off the nails or screws, is to put the saw straight up with the blade facing in towards the fan enclosure at an angle of about 30-45 degrees so you're cutting inwards, toward the rest of the fan.

By doing the cutting this way, if you should happen to slip, you won't risk cutting into the ceiling outside the fan/light opening. Just a little trick to save on drywall repairs to minimize the chance of damage.

Make sure that the power is off to the fan/light before trying to remove the enclosure so you don't have to worry about nicking the wires above the ceiling while removing the metal enclosure.

Hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!

Maytag model MDE7057AYW 5600 Watts dryer runs ,but

5600 watts will not operate off 120 volts.
This is a 220/240 volt hookup.
There are 2 legs of 120 volts each that operate the dryer.
The only part requiring 220v is the heater.
Otherwise 120v routes through the various controls and relays.

Your voltage is probably too low, probably a bad wire or source. Let me know if it worked.
