Question about Royal 1280MX Shredder

1 Answer

I was shredding a credit card and it jammed. I had to get a needle nose pliers and pull out through the top of the shredder, the half of the card that didnot go through the shredder. Now the shredder appears to be dead. We plug it in and turn it on but the light does not go on like it is not getting power.

Yes if there are no lights/dead then you have likely "fried" the pcb inside. You can contact Royal at 1-800-524-0799 for replacement parts and pricing.

Ativa shredder X1800 - shredder does not respond. green light present. Reverse works fine. I killed it with too much shredded paper.

Unplug it. Lift the shredder unit off the catch-bucket. Remove any paper caught in the blades. You may need needle-nose pliers to pull jammed paper out from between the cutters.

Aurora shredder model as1019cs has jam

Run it in reverse for about a minute. If you have tried that, get a pair of needle nose pliers and clean out all shredding from the cutters. If you are handy, unscrew the bottom of the case from the top to access the cutting wheels, Use the needle nose pliers to remove all impacted shredding.

I have a paper jam - Model ITSH-555. It's a small home model. The shredder makes an awful noise when it's on either in "Auto" mode or "reverse" and doesn't work. I can see the jammed...

Uplug the shredder and press the power button and hold it for at least 30 seconds to empty all energy in the machine.

Turn it over and use a pair of needle nose pliers to grasp the little pieces of paper hanging down and pull as many of them out as possible.

Turn it back right side up and find a hard plastic card (possibly a credit card that is no longer any good or similar) and see if you can push the card through the wheels where you insert the paper that is to be shredded. Pushing the card through the same way that you would insert paper should move the wheels and bring the paper out the bottom of the shredder.

If you are unable to get the wheels to move and release the paper out the bottom, then your only other option is to clean out the trapped paper manually. There are many ways to clean it out manually. You can use needle nose pliers, tweezers or a flat headed screw driver to try and get as much of the paper out as possible.

When you have cleaned out as much paper as you can, plug the machine back in and rock the forward and reverse lever back and forth to try and further the paper that is stuck to the outside of the machine. If it does not release the paper that is jammed inside the machine, it may push it further outside of the shredder or move it further along where you may be able to grab more manually and pull it out.

Unplug the machine and again remove as much paper as possible.

Repeat the steps above until you are able to clear the jam.

Good luck!

My shredder is jammed and I cnnot get unjammed

Hi. Go to the local hardware store and purchase a small pair of needle nosed pliers. Use these to pull the paper from the shredder a little at a time. Then in the future only shred up to 3 sheets at a time so it does not jam on u. J.

I put a few credit cards in (at the same time) and it is now jammed. I have tried to reverese, gears wont move at all. Have also tried to use pliers to pull out jam and butterknife to try to force through....

Yes, you can disassemble it, but first I would try spraying the slot with WD-40 from the bottom and then pulling the fragments backwards out the top with a set of straight-nose serrated pliers. Keep in mind that a $50 shredder is pretty much considered a disposable item by the manufacturer and OfficeMax. Getting into it will be hard and you can't get parts should something break. They just aren't made to be serviced.

I tried to shred a credit card and now its jammed. How do I get it out? Thanks.

Unplug it and let it sit for about 15 minutes. Open the top and carefully remove the bits of credit card with needle nose pliers. You may want to wear gloves to protect your fingers from the sharp edges of the shredder.

Paper jam. Ready lite comes on but shreder will not start shreding

Common problem with paper shreds blocking the sensors on top and bottom of cutter asm. You may have to remove the top of unit to properly clean. When removing top, be very careful with the short ribbon cable. Lift top slowly and then reach under and disconnect from main board. Once top is off, you can cycle motor by hand and try to remove shreds with needle nose pliers. Of course, disconnect power first.

Can't get shredder to work

Please ... unplug your shredder before doing this.

It sounds like you were on the right track picking paper out of the gears. The problem is that the paper can get really jammed up in there, especially when you use the reverse.

I found that I needed to use a combination of a small screwdriver with at least a 3 inch long blade to push the jammed paper through. The I use needle-nosed plyers to pull the paper through the other side.

Hope this helps. Please let me know if it does.
