My Asus EEE netbook suddenly won't operate on the battery even though when it's plugged in it shows the battery is 70+ % charged. Is there a switch I may have accidentally pushed?

Thats a typical indication that the battery needs replacement. It may even show 100% but run for a few minutes or not at all on the battery. Then it will look like its charging but will not run.

The battery will last typically anywhere from 1-2 years from new before needing replacement. Depending on how you use the battery has a great effect on how long it lasts. Not using it at all will damage it as much as draining it to empty all the time.

Replacement battery should cost about $65. If you do a search for Asus EEE battery you should find several (hundred) sources for it. Just pick one that offers a good price and a bit of warranty.

My Asus Eee PC 1001PXD battery won't charge. The charges light is on but nothing happens and now the battery is completely dead and I cannot get my notebook on

Your problem is far more than the battery. Your problem is the power cord. Laptops for the most part will work off the power cord even if the battery is dead or even if the battery is not in the laptop. Your power cord charges your battery and if it is bad it will not charge it. You've been working off your battery even though you might have had the power cord plugged in, but if it's bad and not charging the battery, the battery drains and then you can't get the laptop to power on at all. Go purchase a ac adapter and power cord that is designed for your system. Don't buy one that some of the big box stores sell that has a an interchangeable plug at the end designed to fit just about any laptop. Those will eventually burn *********** board out.

My Asus Eee PC battery light flashes orange all the time. The battery does not charge. What does this mean.

Well it simply means that youre battery needs replacing. Youre netbook can detect it if it flashes on youre indicator and the power is actually going in youre battery but it simply won't charge because it has passed its usable life.

Usualy this is a battery fault.
